Double Trouble: A Location Dilemma for Monster Hunter Now and Pokémon GO!

Hello trainers!

I’ve encountered a peculiar issue with a location that serves both Monster Hunter Now and Pokémon GO. When I submitted this spot for review in Pokémon GO, it was flagged as a duplicate because it already exists in Monster Hunter Now. However, it’s not listed in Pokémon GO!

This creates confusion for players who want to utilize this location in both games. Has anyone else faced this problem? How I can solve this and ensure that all trainers can enjoy the best of both worlds!

Looking forward to your thoughts!

We dont have wayspot map, but you can use iitc to check old wayspot, the most accurate one will be to check submission map when you are trying to submit, but you need to be onsite

I understand we don’t have a wayspot map, but I’m a bit confused about the process. I submitted a PokéStop and saw the IITC legend saying “Available in other Niantic games,” but it got rejected as a “duplicate.” The issue is, this PokéStop doesn’t exist in Pokémon GO!

Does this mean I can’t request previous stops? I was onsite when I submitted, but now I’m stuck. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Hello and welcome @AlMessiHub
Is it possible to have the name and location of the wayspot please.

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome!

Of course, I’m happy to share the details. The name of the wayspot is “Mujer encapuchada,” and the address is Nte. 21-A 5157, Lindavista Vallejo III Secc, Gustavo A. Madero, 07750 Ciudad de México, CDMX, México.

Let me know if you need anything else!

Each game has its own inclusion rules for determining how to pull/use wayspots from the [Lightship, Spatial Database, whatever name we are calling it now] POI database. Pokemon Go, Monster Hunter Now, Pikmin Bloom all uses “S2 cells” to determine what will appear in their respective games. PGO has a daily sync. Pikmin Bloom has had only a handful of periodic synchs (for new map objects). MHN has to this date has ZERO synchs (for new map objects).

This is an overly simplified explanation about S2 cells in case you are not familiar, but it is an imaginary grid over the world invented by Google, used in mapping applications. The cells in the grid can be divided into smaller and smaller squares.

My guess is that within the L17 S2 cell that contains the POI in question from MHN, it also contains other POIs. So in PGO, the something else appears as a stop instead of the MHN-POI.

If the stop that appears in PGO is removed, something else in that cell would appear to “replace” it as a stop. It could be the MHN-stop, or if there are other POI within that cell, it could be something else.

Even though Pokemon Go says “submit a pokestop” you are actually submitting a waystop that, if accepted, might become a pokestop. Or, it might be too close to an existing pokestop and not appear in Pokemon Go.

This isn’t made clear when submitting wayspots, although it is available through a careful read of the acceptance email.

It sounds like this POI is already a wayspot, so any attempt to submit it will be rejected as a duplicate. Since it is already a wayspot, it won’t appear in pokemon go (otherwise it would have already appeared).

I don’t see any PokéStops close enough; however, I greatly appreciate your explanation and assistance. If I understand correctly, this means that it is a wayspot, but it doesn’t necessarily have to become a PokéStop, right?

If you do want to know more about S2 cells and PoGo, you can find more info here: https://pokemongohub.net/post/featured/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

We are nominating Wayspots for the Wayfarer map, which each game can pull from for igame play locations. Wayspots are not guaranteed to become stops/gyms in PoGo due to the S2 cells. Unused Wayspots may get used as Power Spots in PoGo though.

Simply put, Wayfarer provides the map of Wayspots that each game can use, but it’s up to each game to determine which Wayspots meet their inclusion rules.

I think what may have happened is that this was once in Pokémon Go at the time the database was used to create the MHN places.

Is it part of a wall of graffiti art.

It could be that this has been reported for removal in Pokémon Go ( based on it being graffiti and considered temporary and possibly vandalism) and so it is no longer there and no longer possible to submit. I’m guessing here.
Maybe it just hasn’t been removed from MHN
As we don’t have all the information we are just guessing on this one.

Based on what you are saying I think it best to give up on this one and continue to look elsewhere.

Metrobus Magdalena De Las Salinas???

If this is the case…

Your nomination may…

  • become a Powerspot (Dynamax / Gigantamax) depending on its proximity to other waypoints.
  • It could replace the existing waypoint if that is removed for legitimate reasons. ***
  • It could be used in other Scopely games.

***Do Not attempt to get a legitimate wayspot removed just to get yours on to the map. This is seen as Abuse and can lead to suspension / bans of all accounts (Wayfarer, Pokemon Go and any other Scopely games.

or more likely what @elijustrying said above…
