Are the Wayspots, in fact, Power Spots which wouldn’t have a photo?
Or if you’re in India or Brazil or other places I forget, there were imports from Foursquare that were not very well sifted through so lots of ineligible photo-less Wayspots ended up on the map.
Anyways, basing what’s acceptable now by what’s on the map may seem logical but it isn’t due to the various imports which don’t align with regular criteria
yes, I’m Brazilian
I see, so there was a reason for the sudden increase
I mean, I stopped playing pogo in 2022 and I’m back now
the number of new wayspots was absurd, but I found it strange that many are commercial or invalid, I thought the policies had changed and that’s why I submitted some similar ones
If you think any of them should be removed, you can tap the (>) and then the three dots and choose report but it would have to fall under one of these.
I’ll leave it as it is, the city here in the countryside where I live was very lacking in wayspots, almost a desert when I opened the game, so this “import error” actually revived the game here in the neighborhood and in the city as a whole
On weekends, it even reminds me of 2018/19 when many people gathered at the 2 gyms in the square haha
I prefer to keep quiet and leave it wrong, because otherwise I would have to travel kilometers to spin a pokestop
I’m just sad that the process of accepting new wayspots is so rigid
If you would like to have some spadvice around your nominations that are not being successfully please do post one or two in full. We can then advise if there is something to vibe improved.
Also do look at the criteria clarification which is the most up to date information.
I recently started Nominating waystop around my rural areas,
Taking photo for waystop → surrounding photo but it got marked as a duplicate because one of the existing pokestop is visible in the background, now it seems getting a waystop accepted in that cell for turning it into a powerstop is impossible.
Any advice/solution for lack of powerstop in rural areas
You should take photo clear from other object. Anyway that photo probably wont be main photo anytime soon. So you should be able to resubmit.
Anyway if the object is that close , you need to learn about s2 cells because even if its not marked as duplicate, it’s might be in the same cell as other wayspot, which means it wont be pokestop.
But beware putting wayspot away from its actual location into empty cell for gaming purpose is subject to abuse ladder system.
In the other note, unused wayspot might stiill become powerspot
Just planning to submit a nomination in a pre-occupied cell for for the eligibility of powerstop
Maybe not accurate IRL ( distances ) but visible on OSM
This shouldn’t cause a rejection for a duplicate, if it’s a completely different POI. I’ve submitted many Wayspots with existing Wayspots in the background of one of the photos, and none have been rejected as a duplicate. I’'ve even take supporting photos with existing Wayspots in the background to orient reviewers as to where the nomination is.
Here’s an example for a picnic area with multiple tables and grill at a local park. The nearby gazebo and pond dock both have Wayspots, and both sre in the background of the supporting photo to help reviewres orientate themselves. I also mentioned in the supporting info that this is west of the gazebo and north of the pond dock.
There could be another reasonw why your nomination is being marked as a duplicate, as there may already be a Wayspot for what you’re nominating, but you’re not seeing it. Do make sure to have the toggle turned on for the map to see all Wayspots, including duplicates.
And, if you do want some assistance on your nomination, you can post in the Nomination Support topic, and we’ll be glad to take a look and see if there’s anything that needs to be improved upon, or if there is already a Wayspot for the POI>
Thanks for the info I think reviewers didn’t read my submission title or thought my submission is part of nearby existing waystop which is why marked as a duplicate.
