I am not mad about lowering the level to submit. I just hope to improve the onboarding process for new explorers. So many people just skip through the pages and have no idea what criteria is when they start making nominations.
I think this lower Ingress submitting level will be especially welcome news for the folks who already submit in Pokemon Go. Many keep saying that 40 nominations are not enough. With Niantic ID, these players shouldn’t need to complete any onboarding.

I think they’re hoping to be able to nominate from Pikmin Bloom.
I’m Recursed Level 7 and can’t able to nominate new Portals (Wayspots) via Ingress. Facing the issue just after Ingress Prime got updated 2-3 days ago.

My initial thoughts are that this is a good change.
L8 can take time to get to, if you don’t live in a big Portal dense city. Hope it helps get new things added.
Pokémon GO potentially being lowered in future does concern me a bit, as I know people can reach L37 from their sofa with gifts, and with ML being off we are seeing a lot more coal. What do people think it may be lowered to for that game? I think 30-35 would be the lowest I’d want it ideally, and that probably matches up to L8 on Ingress.
In Ingress I’m at lvl 15, and been grinding in pogo for 37. That level will probably drop shortly after I get there.
Is it selfish / rude to ask if we get rewards for both Pogo and Ingress if we meet the level requirements during the Global Challenges? Asking for a friend.
We do get the rewards for the games were wayfarer eligible for, if its both its both.
Would it be reasonable to assume that one has to nominate in both games (which meet the Level Requirement) in order to gain the rewards? Just want to set expectations.
No, simply being at or above minimum level required during the challenge suffices to be eligible for the rewards

There are and have been multiple threads about quality control.
Just that well you wedge open the door and say to the world come on in with no checks and balances - then you have no idea of why people enter, their motives, how they behave, what they will do…this last bit is really important.
Actually that is not true. You already know what will happen.
But hey. Just in case I missed something - happens all the time

Reaching level 8 in Ingress is a lot easier these days given the standing 5hr double AP window every week along with the Apex item and Machina.
I feel that improving the onboarding process would achieve a much better result than lowering the level requirements in terms of increasing participation. Given that it currently doesn’t have any checks to make sure people actually read and understand the material.
This leads to many people being turned off Wayfarer soon after starting their journey. All because they glossed over the onboarding and don’t understand what makes a good nomination. Also the in game process that they see everytime they nominate something still saying that they are directly nominating an in game object. Leading to the inevitable frustrations when their approved nomination is used in different game and not the one they play.
Unless it’s like the Brazil Challenge that was only for Pokémon GO Wayfarers but I hope we don’t lock out all the newly eligible Ingress Wayfarers for a challenge this time.
There will come a time when AI will be integrated into the submission process where the AI will spot a good or bad nomination during submission and will reault in a drop of bad submissions. It may also in the short term affect good submissions
Exactly this, i don’t think most people are opposed to having more contributors, or which games they are coming from, this could be a great positive if done properly.
The concern is that because of flaws with onboarding, education and messaging, there will be a greater influx of frustrated people who don’t really know what they are doing. This is a current issue and will only get worse, further degrading the quality of submissions and ill-will toward wayfarer.
It would be nice if the team were transparent with their intentions for a change, perhaps this would help us understand why they are doing this and alleviate some of our fears.
