Fake PokeStop location report rejected

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Parque de juegos “Quetzalcoatl”

  • Location (lat/lon): 18.875645,-97.100230

  • City: Orizaba

  • Country: Mexico

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): I tried to move the location to the exact position but the game just didn’t let me make it so I decide to report it but I got rejected when you can see clearly by Google maps that there’s no playground over there, just houses and an empty ground

Hi @Diegz18
Welcome to the forum :hugs:
You can do location edits ingame only for distances less than 10m.
For bigger moves you need to ask helpchat (wayfarer menue → help → orange bubble).

Ok thanks for that info but still I got rejected for the report when you can clearly see that the POI doesn’t exist over there

I responded to your first attempt of moving the poi in question. After that sentence it seems that your successless location edit leads to your removal request. If the playground only needs a move, use the way I outlined above.
If there’s absolutly no playground a removal request is the right thing to do.
So what is the reality?

Hello and welcome,

I do have to ask if you are trying to get this removed from Wayfarer or Ingress, since you are using the Intel map. If you are trying to get this corrected in Ingress, they are no longer a part of Wayfarer, after Wayfarer and other games were sold to Scopely. The last sync with the Ingress map was on May 23rd, 2025. More info can be found here:

While there is a link to report issues with portals in Ingress, I will say that I was recently told that location edits that are over 10m can’t be done by the Ingress team, and this was a request I made back in August. I don’t know if others have had this issue as well, as I’m not L16+ in Ingress and unable to access the new Recon website yet. This is the link, if you wish to try: https://support.ingress.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

The POI was clearly located in that place to benefit a single person that’s why I report it.
I get my ticket from the chat so I hope they move the spot to the correct place :+1:

I didn’t know that ingress wasn’t part of Niantic anymore! I use ingress map because it’s the only way I can get the POI image since I’m not in the location right now and I got the reject mail now.

Thanks for that info! :+1:

Getting the “it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.” can be very demoralising when you now the wayspot does not meet criteria and shouldn’t be there in the 1st place.

Just got the reply where someone has printed an A4 page (definite DIY, poor spacing etc), laminated it and used 1 pin to stick it to a tree. Everything spotlessly clean so definitely created to add a waypoint against criteria. Reply: “it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.” :frowning:

I understand why people get frustrated and decide “why bother”…

Thanks for the appeal, @Diegz18. Based on the evidence provided, we’ve moved the Wayspot to the correct location.
