Hello everyone, I need your help to discuss a few POIs. In our area we have some interesting art installations, but ML hates them, and for that reason they keep getting rejected. Before I start bombarding Niantic with appeals, I wanted to hear your opinions about which ones actually make sense and which don’t.
All waypoints are placed so that they are on public property and do not require entering any private grounds. However, the art installations are located on the exterior façades of buildings. In my opinion, the owners intended these artworks to be viewed, as long as no one suddenly decides to stand right in front of their doors. That’s why I marked the waypoints in green where natural pedestrian traffic already flows, so nothing unusual or suspicious would stand out.
The images are now all from Google Maps, of course, they do not match the quality of the submitted waypoints.
Well… unfortunealy, despite the owner’s home best intention, I believe this is not eligible because it is in the SFPRP, that include the wall outside the home, the fence inside the property zone,… and so on.
The private property exclusion is specifically single-family residential private property (SFPRP).
Anything on the grounds of SFPRP including the exterior of the boundary is not eligible. This can be frustrating, especially when something is accessible from the pavement, but this is what the rules are. Some things get past review which is why you might see things already in the game(s).
For what it’s worth, the first of these is on the roof, so not even on the outside boundary; the second and third are on the side walls and again not even on the outside boundary.
You need to be able to get to the exact location of the wayspot, not just close to it.
Sorry to make it look like an bombardment, the forum doesn’t really display well on mobile if multiple people are already typing
Also generally, what you can buy from the hardware store is never eligible anyways, I’d imagine some of the presented things are actually from Obi or other Baumarkt
So POI 1 would be excluded because to me it looks like a single-family house. However, the other two are multi-family houses. Is there anything to criticize about the other two apart from the fact that the waypoint should be placed more accurately on the art installation?
There’s a key distinction between an apartment block and a building that is multiple residences in a line (or even residences forming the four corners of a square). In the UK, semi-detached houses and terraces are definitely SFPRP - it doesn’t matter that the entire structure contains multiple residences.
For the last two, if those are genuinely apartment blocks, you would need to provide evidence for this, such as multiple buzzers/nameplates at a single entrance. That relates to eligibility of the location, but I’m not commenting on the art itself.
Possibly one way to clearly see what is SFPRP and what isn’t is whether that part of the structure is a single residence all the way from ground level to the roof. If it is, then it is is SFPRP. It doesn’t matter what the adjoining parts of the structure are.
The last two buildings are clearly multi-family houses with different doorbells, however it feels really strange to start taking photos of the nameplates. So how should one best verify or prove this?
And regarding POI no. 1, I just noticed on Maps that there is a local business operating in that very house, which would theoretically classify the building as commercial, right?
The local German reviewers will recognize which one is which. On an international forum understanding local property set-ups often fails, even with best intent.
A business within a SFPRP doesn’t make it ok, rejection criteria always overrides any possible eligibility without room for arguments
