Followed the criteria yet still refused?

This isn’t my point. Saying to a newer Wayfarer that their nomination most likely won’t show up in any of the games is discouraging to me. It’s the choice of words here. I would have chosen “may or may not” or “there’s no guarantee.”

Saying to nominate something that they think will show up in the games and not something that won’t is discouraging to the entire point of Wayfaring.

I swear, so many regulars aren’t thinking before posting on the forums. I may stop being a part of the forums because of this, as I’m starting to feel unwelcome, and no one is helping me with this.

Better to warn them of the potential disappointment up front tbh, so that they arent completely gutted and quit in anger when it happens and they find out that chance of a waypoint is now forever gone

Always better to know, even when its bad news

Thats why I stopped interacting with the old forum - just didnt feel like a positive place. Feels better here, for now. I don’t think you are unwelcome or unwanted for what that’s worth

It’s been getting worse. I’m having regulars marking my posts with the laughing emoji when I’m not being funny. Quite hurtful.

I would hope no one meant to be hurtful, even if it feels that way

Now I’m envious. I haven’t been getting any laughs…

I think a lot of us (“me,” so I’m going to project it on all of you) like getting in the last word, especially on the Internet. I think the true winner of the conversation is whoever doesn’t engage next to “invite” further discussions they might take personally.

I’ve valued your opinions even when we differ (which I know you know we do at times). Hope you can continue to feel welcome here, even when comments push a little far.

I don’t pay attention to that on my own posts or others. Not to dismiss a concern, just to point that I’m not looking for what you may notice. If you feel targeted, please reach out to the staff team who is more able to investigate and handle these claims.

I am a big proponent of this. Knowledge is power. The understanding of this is that sometimes that knowledge can be discouraging, and that’s ok.

I feel like we’re better off with everybody having as much information as possible when making any decision in life. Wayfarer is no exception.

I can understand why Niantic might shy away from discussing certain things as it might discourage people from nominating things, which is counterintuitive to their overall mission.

However, I would make the argument if someone is out there blindly nominating “Pokéstops” or “portals” that don’t ever make it onto the PoGO gameboard that is just as, if not more, discouraging than knowing the rules in the first place and could lead to them becoming disenfranchised with Wayfarer in general. (Yes I know we nominate Wayspots, don’t at me lol)

Each Wayfarer is different and has their own motivations for nominating. @BlameJamal will tell you, he’s selfish, if he can’t hack it or spin it he’s less inclined to nominate it as it won’t benefit him. (I say less inclined because he has nominated LSO in the past) I want to really stress this when I say it … That’s fine!!! If people want to nominate things that will show up on their gameboard, and only things that will show up on their gameboard then I say more power to them.

I am far more altruistic, if I think it’s eligible I’ll nominate it. I don’t care if it ends up on a gameboard or not. Sure I’ll consult the map before I nominate things, but if I see it’s lightship only then that won’t stop me.

Every Wayfinder is valid in their own way. LSO, PoGO only, Ingress only, etc etc etc. All valid. We are all contributing to the same database, however much or little we do it. Nobody is more important than anybody else.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. Be sure to tip your waitress, and may Emily find value in everything you contribute.

Good night New York!

Where I live community gardens are commonly gardens that are lovingly tended by residents. Typically over 50s where have downsized from a larger suburban home to a mature age village.
These type of community gardens are a big attraction for folks who love gardening but are nevertheless at a stage of life where downsizing is the thing.
Groups soon form and meet regularly at specific times, days etc to do the garden.
They are socialising and getting light exercise. We try not to exclude these folks.

I agree that we all have our own reasons why we are Wayfarers. I also agree that many around here enjoy helping each other out when there are questions.

I play the vast majority of Niantic games and share when I think I have something relevant to add. I feel like I’m known around here as an advocate for all current (and future) Niantic games.

Wayfarer nominations (through the game(s) user experience) populates Niantic Lightship database. I like to let folks know about the different inclusion strategies of all the games. But I let others go into detail about the nuances of Pokémon Go cells. I try and alert them to the deeper pool they have jumped in!

I do like to phrase things positively. I want folks to learn and apply that knowledge. I know I can get frustrated though. So let me say I’m sorry for those days! And I think we should all give a little leeway for folks to approach these conversations in their unique way. We all add something (at least I like to think so).

:hugs:

Community garden is another one of those phrases that means different things in different places.
I would a call the type of area split into small plots an allotment and a community garden I would expect it to be one area not split up. We also have community orchards ( I have been visiting a lot over past few weeks).
But all of these should be potentially good wayspots for socialising, and exercise. They can be tricky without signs but I have had 2 accepted.

This.

I never said that though. I showed them where their nominations would show up.

If you mean the other suggestion of the picnic area, I said I would try that “next” not “instead”.

Until this post, I thought @DTrain2002 and I were both working towards enlightening newer Wayfarers, each of us contributing to understanding.

I’m done here…

And yes, mod, ambos, I did ask for help in other threads recently, and got nothing back.

I have seen several times where they have said that the general tags don’t actually do anything. You need to tag a specific person for help. Or flag the statement. Usually when I do that, someone responds to me by direct message. I am honestly sorry that you are feeling attacked. I know the feeling.

@DTrain2002
I have a DM message thread open you can discuss in.

Can I come out of hiding?
