Gym in Pokémon Go next to elemtary school

I reported a wayspot (indoor Pool) because it has been transformed from a PokeStop into a Gym in Pokemon Go. My problem with this Gym is that it’s located right next to an elementary school and can be reached from there. Students also have swimming lessons there. I’m concerned that students will now do Pokemon Go raids instead of studying at school. However, my reported concerns were dismissed by Niantic. Am I too petty? The indoor pool isn’t part of the school grounds, but it’s right next to the school.

Hello and welcome @Samaire79

If it’s not on school property then it’s a valid location.
It sounds as though this does meet criteria as a great place to exercise.
That sounds good for the general gameplay I g community.

Although it’s interesting to hear your community spirited concerns, It is not up to us as wayfinders to make assumptions as to how a wayspot may or may not be used.
If children are using mobile phones that in a school, then it’s up to the school to enforce their rules.
If the school decides it is creating an issue then they can contact Niantic, but it may need the property owner of the actual building involved as well - i guess it depends on exact context.
There are a range of possibilities below the draconian one of removing a valid place. They can limit the gyms availability, make it not hold raids or down grade it to a stop.

This sounds like more of a matter of discipline in school ie no phones during lessons than a wayfarer issue.

The PoI sounds completely valid being at a public pool which is a great place to exercise and socialise. If the pool was owned by the school then I would agree with you that it should not be a PoI, but simply being near a school doesn’t matter.
