Help with withdrawing ongoing 'on review' POI(+in queue/on review priority issue within same S17 cell)

Hello, I’ve been trying to submit POIs within a specific S14 cell to create a third Gym in PoGo.

As my goal was to create a Gym, I had to submit multiple POIs in a small area and some of them were inevitably neighboring.

I was told that if a POI goes ‘on review’, it blocks its own S17 cell and its surrounding 8 cells from turning ‘on review’ unless the other newer POI uses ‘Upgrade’.

So, I tested myself to see if this theory was accurate and tried using a ‘Upgrade’ on a S17 cell with ‘in queue’ which neighbours a cell containing ‘on review’(technically does not ‘neighbor’ since it was on a diagonal cell but whatever).

Luckly, the theory was on point and the new ‘in queue’ cell turned into ‘on review’ in 6 hours or so and got approved after about total 18 hours of waiting.

The issue is I found a great POI submissoin point, but the point was on the EXACT SAME S17 cell ‘in review’. This one is located in a safer place than the current candidate. It is such a perfect spot with excellent evidence that this POI exists/is on proper location. I dare assert this one will be insta-approved as soon as it goes ‘on review’.

I used my upgrade on the new ‘in queue’ POI, but however this time, nothing has happened last 24 hours. My concern is that I live in a dense, popular city with heavy queue time. Candidates without ‘Upgrade’ will cost like half a year to get any verdict.
I’m just afraid that the current ‘on review’ case is denying the new POI from getting voted for another several months.

My ‘Upgrade’ might have been totally wasted and need to wait 6 months for the earlier ‘on review’ POI gets any approval or denial.
The problem will get worse if the earlier nomination gets approved, since this POI will take over the S17 cell and nullify the new POI even if approved.

A very easy solution would be getting rid of the currently ‘on review’ one. Sadly, I couldn’t find any options to take back or halt ongoing review.
I would still be happy even if my first ‘on review’ submission gets (immidiately) rejected because I am certain that the new candidate would be replacing it swiftly.

TL ; DR
Is there any way to take back a submitted ‘on review’ nomination? Can the Admins manually pause or even reject the case?

Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome,

I don’t quite know where you heard this, but Wayfarer has never told us how long it can take for a nomination to be decided upon. While upgraded nominations do tend to get decided on sooner, as it will be reviewed by a larger area of reviewers, there’s still no known timeframe for resolution that staff has ever provided.

Upgrades allow you to fast-track Wayspots you’ve nominated by having them reviewed by a larger number of reviewers meaning the nomination will reach a decision faster than it would if not Upgraded. Reviewers are awarded one Upgrade for every 100 Agreements reached. When you earn an Upgrade, you can either manually select one of your existing nominations to upgrade or change your settings to automatically apply an Upgrade to an uploaded Nomination. You can view your progress towards receiving an Upgrade on your Profile page:

From the Wayfarer FAQ on the timeframe for resolution:

How many reviews does it take to make a final decision on a Wayspot’s eligibility?

This exact number cannot be disclosed at this time, however, we can say that this depends on the performance of each individual Wayfinder.

Unfortunately, once a nomination is in voting, it cannot be withdrawn. Only nominations that are still in queue can be withdrawn.

Please keep in mind that the locations of Wayspots must be accurate to where they are located in the real world. Inaccurately placing a Wayspot nomination just to get it in-game is considered abuse.

Lastly, if another nomination has been approved and shows up in-game in an empty L17 S2 cell, another Wayspot that’s added to that cell most likely won’t be added as a stop. Typically, the first Wayspot in an L17 S2 cell is the game play location for that cell.

Yes, I am aware that no ‘official statement’ has been made about the ‘precise relavance between time window of progression and upgrade’ nor the ‘prior on review cell blocking surrounding cells from getting voted’ from Wayfarer. But there are expected behaviors obtained from experiences of numerous community members. They were kind of accurate for most of the time, and this makes me anxious.

They are both in the correct cell; although the former submission is kinda on the boarderline of another cell. But the neighbor boarder cell contains a much significant Government office so there’s no gain from abusing even if I were attempting to do so. I’m not even trying to make 2 POIs; I am hoping to choose only one and cancel out the other to make more suitable POI.

Finally, that is also what I am afraid of. Since the latter nomination is strictly better than the earlier submission, I would like to deny the former candidate.

No one nomination is better than another, as long as they both meet criteria.

Hello,
How long ago did you submit the first one, and the second one?

There is a period of time that has been observed often referred to as the Grace period that is a short delay before a submission can go into voting.
It may be that the slight delay with submission 2 is due to it still being in the grace period. This typically can be up to 1 week. Importantly even if an upgrade is applied you have to wait for this period to end before it goes into voting.
If typically the area where this L17 cell is voting takes many weeks then it is likely that the second one if upgraded will overtake it and be resolved first.

I might have to gently diagree with this statement since they both meet criteria but one provides extra bench and shelter with fewer cars passing nearby (don’t get me wrong; both are NOT on roads but this place just has less traffic since it is in a corner) while the other has to stand on street while playing.

The first submission(on review rn) was three weeks ago. Turned into ‘on review’ within a week, but don’t know exactly when it changed.
Second submission(now a POI) was two weeks ago, and as long as I remember I used my upgrade three days after submitting. It turned into ‘on review’ 6 hours later, got approved after about 12 additional hours of reviewing time.
Third submission(upgraded, in queue) was two days ago. It was upgraded about 12 hours after, and +24 hours passed since then.

Well I knew Grace period existed but looking back at these timelines, I might just be being too impatient I guess.

I think it is likely to be in the Grace period.
I tend to wait at least 24 hours after creating the nomination before upgrading, to allow time for the auto review by the computer program Emily to be cleared.
Hopefully yours will go into review over next few days.

We don’t get to choose what Wayspots are in-game; if we did choose 1 we like more over another, that might cause issues with other players, could cause conflicts. The games get to choose, and typically the first Wayspot in a cell will be in-game, and that seems pretty fair.

Still nominate the “better” POI.

Scenario 1: The first nomination is refused and your “better” nomination is accepted…

Scenario 2: Both are accepted, the 1st one appears in game, the “better” one may appear in game as a Power Spot.

Try putting the shoe on the other foot for a change.

It can be frustrating waiting for nomination to go through voting even under the best of circumstances. If one of your nominations was something that people tend to sit on the fence about, and you found another in the same cell that seemed like a cinch, you might wish for precisely what the OP is requesting.

Unfortunately, we have no facility to remove stuff from ‘In Review’, as you helpfully replied to OP. When a poster demonstrates working knowledge of the subject matter they do not necessarily always need to be ‘set straight’ over interpretations of every jot and tittle.

That’s really not the case here. They want what they believe to be a better Wayspot that’s in the same S2 cell as another already in voting Wayspot to show up in-game, and we don’t get to choose what Wayspots show up in-game.

Are there Wayspots that I’ve nominated that I wish were in PoGo? Of course, but there has to be some fairness in what gets added to the game, hence why we have no say as players.

I think this issue was resolved for the OP, so there’s no further point in posting.

Update: I have submitted total 8 wayspots on the same day; 2 of them are now on review but those are both on different(neighboring) S14 cell.

Unfortunately, the upgraded one has no progress yet.

As Eli explained, there can be a grace period of up to a week for upgraded nominations, especially if you upgraded the nomination less than 24 hours after submitting. I always wait 24-48 hours before upgrading.

ML can take up to 24 hours to do its review, so it’s possibly that 2 of your newest submissions have been reviewed by ML and moved into the community queue, and at least 1 reviewer has voted on them. ML may not have reviewed the other 6 yet, especially if they are still within the 24 hour window.

Final update : the upgraded one was in queue about 6 hours ago when I last checked before going to bed. I woke up and found it went under review. It got accepted in less than half an hour.

Thanks everyone for your attention
