I have a contribution that I submitted on 2/10 and is still in voting (and another one from 2/17, etc). Is there anything we can do to help get nominations approved or denied, or is it just a “wait and see” situation once a nomination is “in voting”?
The amount of time for the voting varies depending on the number of active reviewers in the area. The best way to speed things up is to do reviewing. If you review well, you can earn upgrades that can be used to get more reviewers looking at your nomination.
I love the upgrades option, I just wish you could apply it to nominations already in voting to help resolve issues like this where it’s been 2 months.
You can apply upgrades to things which are in voting.
This is possible when you turn automatic upgrading off in the settings on the wayfarer webpage
I had a nomination enter voting today. It was accepted about an hour ago. Yet I nominations I submitted in February stuck in voting. They are all in same area and would likely be voting on by the same reviewers who accepted my recent nomination so why is it taking so long. They are mostly trail markers or artworks. Sick of waiting
Why is automatic upgrading the default? It would be so much simpler if it wasn’t. Having to manually apply them isn’t a drama, but newbies having their upgrades “stolen” seems to be a regular gripe
I agree. Mine are all in the same area. I have nominations sitting In Queue since December as well as some In Voting. However, I have had nominations in the same area posted and voted on without upgrades in the past couple months. It is random as some are even in the same park and been accepted while others are waiting.
Upgrades are good, but they are not voted on by local community members and even for basic murals etc I have had to have them appealed and get them passed that way. I have been ensuring the wayspots are up to date, so removing those that are gone and replacing with others in the area. The community players have not liked wayspots being removed without something popping up and it can take several months to get nominations through.
I’ve just got another accepted. It’s down the street from the other one. Submitted 1st April. Yet still waiting on stuff from February. They are simply ones. All visible on streetview and boring trail markers. Shows no one is reviewing.
I have 3 for more then 4 months now. I just sick
If you submitted multiple POI in the same cell, it will take a while. Only 1 POI gets pushed into voting at a time. So if there are other people submitting POI within that cell; it’s going to take even longer.
The voting process has slowed down significantly the past few weeks. When the weather gets nice, they don’t want to be stuck inside voting on nominations.
PLUS anything that is in a grey area of being a eligible Waystop will take long in voting; lots of people are going to have a difference of opinion on art and trail markers.
Get some upgrades by participating in the reviewing process.
You say only one nomination goes into voting at a time. So why are all my nominations some in the same cell all in voting
Why do they need an option on nominations? Does it meet criteria. Yes or no. I don’t have any opinion on any nominations just if they meet the criteria or not. There are no grey areas for my nominations currently just trail markers that meet criteria for encouraging exercise and exploring.
Their messaging is quite inaccurate, if you think about it.
A queue is an organized structure. When Niantic says my stuff is ‘In Queue’ they mean they haven’t chosen to look at it yet. There is no promise to look at the oldest stuff first nor the newest, nor the best or worst, nor the most rural or most crowded. Now they even have more than one ‘queue’ but no organizing principle that I can see.
My stuff used to go into voting and just sit there. Nobody was voting on it until I applied an upgrade…
Which cell are you speaking of, the S2? As various levels have different impacts. I have wayspots in different L14 cells adjacent to each other that perhaps had one get voted on and approved and another in queue. Whereas some in the same L14 cell both go into voting. Or are you speaking about Level 17 cells?
Reviewing is based on the s2 level 6 cell you are in and the 8 cells surrounding that. It isn’t surprising for me that any nominations I submit closer to the mainland either to the East or to the South (as I live on an Island) are picked up first as likely there are more reviewers who capture those cells.
But it is surprising when nominations in a different L14 cell next to each other have differing steps for the review process. One gets fast tracked through without an upgrade or ML and the other gets to sit in queue for an extended period of time.
Perhaps this is why I have reviewed duplicate nominations over a period of time with the exact same title/description and cannot even mark something as a duplicate because they are both ‘In Voting’. Or, on occasion the vote was finalized and you can mark it as duplicate.
If the review process didn’t take so long then we wouldn’t have these problems.
There is a local who nominated something recently and it was pushed into voting and the wayspot was right next to something I nominate 2-3 months ago that was sitting in the queue. No upgrade was used. So their submission would go through and mine might get approved eventually but will not show up in games due to range needed between wayspots. Also, when you only get 1 upgrade per 100 agreements and you have to wait months to see your agreements trickle higher due to the process, it takes awhile to add them up. Typically I use an upgrade when I have removed ineligible or non-existing wayspots from an area and want to ensure there is something in it’s place sooner for the community.
Sorry I went off on a rant… But I am curious to your point as to what cell determines what gets pushed into it “one at a time”. TIA!
Two months is not a long period of time for nominations to be in voting. A community member recently shared a nomination which was 18 months old and had been in voting for ~14 months. Niantic aren’t taking their process seriously and are allowing certain population areas to remain punished despite saying they’re trying to resolve nominations naturally within two weeks.
I have a nomination that’s in Niantic Voting - the one where there’s a Niantic badge on the “Voting” status - for 7+ days.
Previously those ‘niantic voting’ took at most 2 days.
Things used to be structured, but now it’s all over the place in these nomination processes.
And no, I’m not putting an upgrade on anything until Niantic announces & confirms an upgrade will move things faster than non-upgraded ones. (Because I had an upgraded nomination take AGES, so I submitted another identical one without an upgrade and it got through while the upgraded one was still in the queue!)
Lately, my nominations are only being reviewed by NIA (with that baloon logo aside) or when I upgrade them. otherwise, unfortunately many players here just stopped reviewing
I have 2 “in voting” for 6 mounths now
