If you have 100 wayspots and 50 get rejected and 50 accepted, while they are all the same objects,
Then people also vote differently.
And the main reason why it dont work as good as could be, is the decision made based on nothing, other then personal dislike or like. Instead of following critiria and guidlines to accept or reject a wayspot.
Same for appeals, then it get accepted in appeal then someone else decides to remove it again, whitout any explanation other then i have decided.
If there was a removal critiria they easy could say one, or explaining.
I also dont understand why some countries have more options then other countries.
Great example is the UK where Cycling trails are accepted but here in the netherlands banned. And if you ask for simple explanation. There isnât any explanation
Have you tried reporting a rejection this ridiculous to help chat? At the least they could send out educational emails, and who knows what the investigation might turn up?
How you do this? I tried to report abuse the first ridiculous rejection (which was the first post in this thread) but nothing happenend. They told me to appeal that ⊠but that wont help if you get more of this rejections.
If you go to help chat at Niantic Wayfarer a text bubble will pop up. One of the options you can choose will be something about reporting abuse. I have ticket out, so I canât pull up exactly what the options say right now. Let them know that this nomination was rejected for a ridiculous reason and you think the reviewers should be investigated. This will not overturn the rejection.
I have never done this, so someone else may be able to guide you better. Let us know know it goes if you try.
I received a trailmarker rejection by myselve today. It was only the boring âtemporarilyâ (maintenanced by the SGV ).
But I wanted to mention that these are community rejections. The ML seems to be trained much better on markers
Thank you for your Wayspot nomination Eckentaler Spazierweg 1 - Wanderzeichen am Baum on May 29, 2025!
Unfortunately, the community has decided not to accept your Wayspot nomination. Please check out the full details in your Contribution Management page.
that is promising! report any crazy and clearly irrelevant rejections you get. if you need to report a batch of them at once, you can use the Reporting Abuse form mentioned earlier and linked at the top of the forum. i hope you can get this situation resolved.
Seems like this could do come good. Sadly Iâm not sure if it will work this way if you get the normal âtemporary or not distinctâ reason, but I think it might be worth a try to go about it like this.
Something needs to happen, and educational emails should at least give people reason to think twice before rejecting hike trails without properly reviewing the submission.
How i need to vote then on a sign on a tree?
(Just as example)
But so many other wayfarers have the same problem, and if ask what a trail marker need to have ? Or why its removed, no awnser ad all.
Unprofessional, what make wayfarer impossible do to correct way.
So its better to do nothing add al and waiting on improvement.
The Trailmarker is just an Anchorpoint whre you can plac e a wayspot, like an entrance Point to a Park.
It doesnt matter for a park sign if there graffiti on or its otherwise damaged, as long as it is recognizeable. Same is true for Trailmarkers: As long as they have their function to help with orientation on the trail, theyâre good.
Many people seem to think theyâ re voting on a trailmarker, but theyâre actually not. Theyâre voting for the trail iotself.
Has the Spot you mention here been removed? If so: was it placed correctly?
Because I canât see anything wrong with this at first glance that would make it a candidate for removal. So if it has been removed and was at the correct place, Iâd try to appeal that removal.
I am not so optimistic about this. Since I report this abuse nothing changed. Perhaps I am impatient and that will take time but I donât believe it. This problem is around since months. And why didnât they accept the wayspot if it was abuse (which it cleary was from my point of view)? We need an obligatory tutorial for everyone for hiking trails. This would be the chance of changing something. At least Niantic themselves often accept hiking trails. That is going in the right direction but the community votes are 80% rejections. As someone mentioned they didnât even know that they review the trail not the sign.
This looks like a sign for a temporary trail, a trail only used for a short amount of time. Just like the trails for the bike exams (only once a year).
And then i also have this topic.
removed after 8 years, under witch removal critiria it needed to be removed. Nobody can explain. But the restored the tiles in diffrent city
@PinkGigaRaichu where its say by niantic that you vote on the trail it self and not the marker?
And the markers are there already 6 years or longer as i proofed in the appeal topics.
I can only hoop scopley wanna inprove wayfarer. Where we can have a more extended version of the critiria and guidlines.
That are more helpfull. In difficult wayspots topics
