These are three of the photos I have chosen. Two were cropped and one was rotated. Also, when I selected the photos to be added to this post, they should be in the order of “primary, supporting/secondary, and alternative secondary”. Although, the alternative I think will be a better secondary fit. I also have both a description and supporting information typed up to get feedback on; that will be after the photos.
Thank you for any feedback it is appreciated and welcomed.
[Description]:
《The basketball hoop and half-court within Parkview Knoll Apartment Complex offer its residents and the public alike entertainment that is both fun and a great source of exercise, where everyone can socialize while watching or waiting to play.》
[Supporting information]:
《There is a single basketball hoop on this concrete half-court that always has people shooting hoops or playing an actual basketball game, unless it is winter. There is no roadside view; however, satellite view will verify the location.》
Hi! Not sure I understood “primary, supporting/secondary, and alternative secondary”, but I would suggest using the middle photo as main, and the last photo as supporting, and ditching the first one altogether. The very tall photo will be very small on the review page and has a lot of distracting elements that are not really needed for a main photo whose main purpose is to identify the object (and will look terrible in most photo displays in most games, not that this should matter ).
Hmmmm. Do you have a sideways photo of the hoop with less playground in? Just wondering. Oh and photos. Try and centre main element as like a 4 X 4 element in centre if it makes sense… May not work.
I would not put a supporting photo in that does not have the waypoint/object in view
Description and supporting could be shorter.
For example only… Description.
Basketball half court at Parkview providing a place to play games, have fun and exercise.
Supporting info
Place to exercise. Basketball half court seen in Google Aerial View.
These are examples only. Others may give differing views. But sometimes. Things like this are self evident and shorter is better.
By the way is the playground a nominated waypoint as well? If yes. Check your positioning. And note as a sports facility. The advice is to place your waypoint on the edge of the court.
My views only and do not guarantee a pass! good luck @KingXLeonidous
What i was going for that caused yourself confusion with, “Primary, supporting/ Secondary, ect.” Is how i visualize the order of a submission and also to categorize my thoughts on which i thought should be main photo and secondary photo and a alternate photo that could replace either photo.
I’ve submitted a few basketball courts, and I tend to focus on the hoop in the main photo with the court below, but not like the first 2 photos. Here’s some of the ones I’ve gotten approved and the main photos.
Also, the description shouldn’t be where you note that it’s a great place to socialize at and get some exercise; this should be proven in the supporting info. Have a little fun with the description, like I did.
The playground is in queue currently and its hard to separate the basketball hoop and court from the playground to get a shot of the surrounding. If i would take the photo viewing towards the direction i took the last photo it would just show a hay field and trees. All the other angles I have tried made it look like a pole and hoop with no backboard. Also both photos that i have for the secondary photo choice has what would be the wayspot in the picture.
I do not like descriptions like “Game on!” personally as those can be seen as identifying your nomination. I stick with very plain and accurate descriptions.
I like the square photo in the middle for the main. The basketball court can be seen on satellite view and your supporting photo confirms where it is.
I have got suggestions for putting that sort of information in either the description and or supporting. Either way thanks i will end up useing which way is most suggested most likely.
So your choice to be used for the secondary photo is the last photo? Is that what you was going for after selecting the middle for Primary? As for the “game on” i wouldnt use that when actually submitting cause your correct. I just couldnt think of a way to say it differently to fet feedback.
I also cringe when I see the criteria quoted in the description, but you have worked it in without it being too distracting. I bet @BlameJamal would approve though.
Seriously though, a basketball court that shows up on satellite view on what is clearly not SFPRP or K-12 is as close to a guaranteed accept as you can get. As long as you take your own photos, write your own text, and avoid readable license plates in the main photo, I rarely see these not accepted.
Do you know about the S2 cell algorithm that Pokemon Go uses? The main playground and the basketball court are both in the same level 17 cell, so only one can go live in Pokemon Go. The little play area to the side with the swings would be in a separate L17 cell if you pinned the playground nomination there.
I personally take every photo on my galaxy s24, while i am out in my local area. Although most gets trashed later due to many reasons. I then type up a rought draft the use my phones ai spelling and grammar check. After that i save it in the free notepad in a order of when i want to submit. So no worries there and have the photo meta data just in case lol.
Yes i do and know only one will be chosen if approved. I was suggeested to still up load them individually on another post of mine instead of try do nominate it all as one, which got rejected. I also understand the 20 meter rule too.
I recommend a 1:1 image ratio for the main picture as that works better across Niantic games. Other ones with different ratios may end up being cropped to remove the POI or be stretched to fit.
I like these descriptions. I don’t think theres anything wrong with a little bit of style. Where i draw the line is descriptions that are misleading. But that’s not the case here.
I recently did some quotes just because submitting so many things in the same day becomes monotonous.
I’m sorry, but it doesn’t read anything like a code word. You play a game at a basketball court: basketball. You may practice tricks and flips at a skate park, but maybe you do want to work on your jump shot at the basketball court there.
There’s no influencing for votes when there’s a creative description. It’s makes things more fun, more interesting. Someone might even smile a little seeing something fun, compared to the plain old.
There are more games than just PoGo and Ingress in this world…They weren’t the first by a long shot.
