I understand that the sign is damaged, but does it really not meet the criteria in your opinion?

Hello @Pex988

I am going to move this one and the others to Nomination Support so that we can assist with each nomination :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Thank you so much for the support <3

Private property is a frustrating rejection reason for submissions like this, because it is completely wrong.

Provided this is legitimate, it is both eligible and acceptable. I would resubmit, after correcting the orientation of the main photo and including links in the supporting text to support your claim about being a popular meeting place. I use links to google maps review ratings for cafes and restaurants. If it isn’t visible on google streetview, provide an explanation of how to confirm it exists at that location.

Yeah, please stop tilting your photos. Also, just submit the cafe, don’t talk about the sign. Nothing about this sign makes this more eligible. The cafe itself is what’s eligible.

I failed to notice you were submitting the sign! I assumed you were submitting the cafe..

Submit the cafe, not the sign. Include the sign in the photo, since it is the name of the cafe and helps establish the theme of the cafe, but it’s still the cafe that should be the wayspot.

Very kind, thank you for your reply. Actually, I had already applied to this bar and it had already been rejected. Like most bars in my area. Even after appealing, I couldn’t get them approved. Do you think that if I tried to appeal this bar, maybe Niantic would let me get it approved?

Approval almost always depends on the quality of the submission. Please take note of our advice about photos. And try to improve what you say about the wayspot. You don’t need to be fancy, just describe the wayspot in the description. And in the supplemental tell how it meets criteria.

I rarely write much for a cafe, but if they have a particular product which is really good, like if they do speciality coffee, fresh fruit juice, or home made cakes I would talk about it. Another one I have nominated encourages people to stay and play board games which I mentioned. Cafés with seating are great places to socialise so tend to be great nominations

I would have accepted this. I would try it again but keep it simple, “Marilyn Monroe themed cafe which sells a particularly delicious xyzzzz” would probably be my description if I were submitting this

I would also add “Review Scores” to the supplemental. A cafe with good reviews should be a great place to socialise. If it’s known to give people food poisoning then it isn’t :frowning:

It could be a cultural difference but I see you mentioning “Bar”, in the UK this implies a place to buy alcoholic drinks so stick to Cafe. Make it sound like a place to meet a friend for breakfast or take your child for a sticky bun…

A cafe bar is fine, I have submitted them before. This one is well known for being full of mums with babies and small children, so selling alcohol doesn’t make something unsuitable for children. They have games to keep the kids occupied while the parents gossip and drink cocktails

Proposta di Wayspot per Bar Nexus

Note del ricorso

Thanks for the appeal, Wayfinder! We are unable to verify, as per the nomination context, how Nexus Caffè is locally significant to your community. We suggest that you add more information explaining why Nexus Caffè is important for the local community in a new nomination. This can greatly increase the odds of this nomination getting approved. Descrizione

That’s why I’m reluctant to suggest bars. They always get rejected… even if they’re well-known and popular.

I think this appeal result is incorrect given what you shared just now. To me it sounds like a great place to socialise

I’m glad to hear you say that. But unfortunately, bars in my area almost never get accepted. So far, only one bar has been accepted. A recently renovated bar, very nice.

Totally agree but as this as already been rejected my suggestion was to “push the positives” and “to my eyes” Bar could be construed as a place only for adults and alcohol. As stated this could be my narrow UK perception.

The rest should make it clear this isn’t the case but better to avoid anything that could be taken as a negative.

Again I can only give my opinion and with current newly accepted waypoints in my area it is obvious that this is not an opinion held by everyone.

If the “bar” is a “Adult Only” location then I will Reject.

If it is shown to be “Family Friendly” location then I will Accept.

Proof of Family Friendly could be link to the Menu showing “Kids Meals” or supplemental image showing a play area in the “Beer Garden”.

In Italy, adult clubs are called “PRIVE’ or Night” , not bars. Therefore, I don’t think the reviewers assumed it was something like that. However, I will take it into account for future applications.

Like others here I second that the cafe itself is quite unique and should be accepted. You could add that it serves as a event location:)

If the cafe itself doesn’t pass you could potentially submit the Marilyn memorial wall or something of the sorts

Hello @Pex988

There is a lot of help in this topic and all are agreed that this is a good place to submit.

The message also is that you need to improve your submission technique in order to present a good case to reviewers.

To try and help you focus on what needs to be done here are some action points.

Throughout the submission focus on the cafe/bar as a place to be social

Photos - you need to get good, straight clear photos. So new photos are needed

I think the name of the bar would be good and avoid the problem of people.

Straight on, keep the name in middle - ideally a bit more either side so that when it appears as a stop you see the title clearly.

using web submission will allow up to 5 images to support.

So one standing back showing the whole cafe ( perhaps showing people enjoying being there) perhaps another showing it in the wider area, and having seen the inside I think getting a picture that shows the inside and all the Marilyn pictures would be great.

Text.

The title is the Marilyn Cafe as that is what it’s called.

Description - focus on it as a great place to meet and be social and the unique theme of the decor around Marilyn.

Supporting - social space, links to a website showing it as a good space.

Keep it focussed and remember someone quickly wants to see that this is a good social space they would want to visit.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Don’t over complicate it as that will confuse reviewers. :joy:

Let us know how it goes and do feel free to consult here first.

This is also template of how you should approach all submissions
