A good fairy comes along in her bouncing niantic ballon. She gives you one free wayfarer related wish.
What would be your most flaming wish to niantic you would ask her for?
Earning Appeals instead of Upgrades.
Upgrades only seem to get you denied faster, and with the rate nominations are denied without any plausible reason, we need them GALORE. I currently have a waiting list for appeals that is longer then the list of Upgrades I earned and will not use.
Appeals that are fully read and carefully considered by a human who is well trained in the critieria and how to differentiate what is important in different cultures.
Wayfarer Showcases that, each week, show three gorgeous photos of high-quality Wayspots in my area, plus a mechanism to see the Wayfarer Showcases in a different area like I can see cell scores in Intel.
I would ask the fairy for a Challenge that runs flawlessly from start to finish.
This is done on every case. I understand there are errors in judgement at times and we try to improve on that. There are errors because there is human involvement. We do thousands of reviews each day. It’s not fair to put aside all these efforts based on a few cases. Having said that, we thank you for your feedback and understand your sentiments. We assure you that we listen to the feedback and try to deliver on them to the best of our abilities. Cheers!
I wonder if the thousands of appeals a day are part of the issue. I have mentioned before that the poor quality appeal decisions we see here almost every day might be due to unrealistic targets around volumes of appeals resolved. It’s either lack of time, lack of training, or lack of care, and I would assume in most cases it is one of the first 2.
For example the stadium with the retired numbers display - the appeal was rejected for the numbers being temporary, when it was obvious that they were not. I am glad that decision was overturned, albeit I was very concerned about that appeal outcome as it was demonstrably false.
I do hope the quality of appeals returns to the levels it was at a few months back. They used to be very good. If the team need to process less to achieve a higher quality then that would be understandable.
You’re making assumptions. We have enough reviewers to handle the inflow.
appeal reviewers seem to really like what most of us would consider “generic businesses” and ineligible neighborhood signs while over using “normal” as a reason to reject things that actually meet criteria in some way. my wish would be for this to reverse.
I wish they’d allow removal of sloppy internal reviews when the community agrees in ineligibility. Basically for criteria to more closely be followed and maintained across the lifespan of a Wayspot and the game board.
And for a gainshare on earnings from my submissions
My wish would be for clarity, consistency and communication to improve across the board, so many frustrations that could be alleviated with a little effort, trust rebuilt and faith regained in the system as a whole.
I agree that there is definitely something failing with these appeals and saddened that once again they refuse to take responsibility or do anything to ease our fears.
While I’m sure there are a considerable amount that are decided fairly, there are clearly far too many that are completely and very obviously incorrect decisions and the reasons are so poorly communicated as to be useless.
Your concerns are genuine you put it across really well. But if I have to play devil’s advocate, I would say that the errors are scarce if the data provided by Aaron is correct. Human accuracy is great if it’s above 99% and that 1% may seem too many from user’s perspective. There are difference in opinions here on the forum and we have all made decisions that can be questioned by others. I think we need to cut them some slack specially when they acknowledge the issue.
Niantic has a business to run and they cannot and should not share all the information. Wayfarer shares maximum information compared to other Niantic products.
Coming to the wish, I would want the abuse to cease. That is something that is the root cause of all the problems.
Oh, this! Make this my wish, too!
And this!
And this!
And this!
I guess I should wish for more wishes
Indeed, I wish they would be more transparent so we could see these things and be reassured that they are doing a good job. With the absence of this clarity we can only make assumptions, and you know what they say about assumptions.
I’m sure there are great things going on behind the scenes, I just wish they would involve the community better and offer some believable reassurance that things are improving.
I also wish that abuse was not a thing, unfortunately with any system, there will be people that try to do things that they shouldn’t. All we can hope for are enough checks and a rigid system in place to detect and prevent as much as possible without making the system unusable for the rest of us, a fine and difficult balance, I’m sure.
Stats,
What about weekly stats?
How many PoI were approved this week?
How many edits where approved?
Top contributeors of the week? Month? All time?
Get a move on with Emily and make Wayfarer fully automated to finally get rid of the awful humans running and using the system.
-
When you contribute a Waypoint inside a game, that games board rules should show in the map.
-
A way to delete rejected and withdrawn contibutions from our contribution list. There’s especially no point of it being there when a later submission was accepted at same loc
Retire all the state survsy markers
Theyre rubbish cluttering the portal network
I would ask her for a monthly niantic update. A bit like AMA. Maybe like this:
â—Ź an Ambassadors opens a post to collect questions (1. - 7.)
â—Ź topic gets closed and the community voted on them (8. - 14.)
â—Ź an Ambassadors gives the three highest voted questions to niantic (15.)
â—Ź niantic make team answers (15. - end of the month)
â—Ź niantic presents the monthly update in a short post
- an own category in the menue to collect them findable
If the fairy comes along another time I give her my rest wishes
Either the ability to temporarily turn off the location marker when determining the location of an object while on the review page or to get a new appeal after an accepted appeal, assuming a decision is reached quickly enough to not already have accrued them back. (Possibly a limit of 4-5 if that did happen?)
