I’ll vote after I talk to a certain someone later today ![]()
Where is the “soon” option? ![]()
OPR is coming - 10th November!
Hopefully it won’t be too long before they reduce the eligible level ![]()
It’s a reasonable starting point.
I’m patient. ![]()
It’s only a week. I can wait. Waiting…
I’m still L8, so I don’t think I can get to L16 by next week.
Hopefully, those that are able to login and start will give us some info here, so when we are able to login, we’ll be ready to go!
So that means there will be OPR ambassadors in addition to Wayfarer ambassadors. Right?
…right?
I am glad to see OPR is back and on the path that both parties believe is the right one.
Also, while not realistically possible, if it were possible, Wayfarer could remove Ingress-era portal data and OPR could remove imported wayspot data from PoGo and Foursquare, allowing each explorer to start from scratch and create a better map for both sides.
It would be nice if this could be done.
I should be able to build better maps for both explorers.
The Wayfarer map would be a useful map for the Scopely/Niantic game.
On the other hand, the OPR maps (i.e. Intel maps) would no longer be accessed by users who do not play the game and would not have to pay additional server fees.
I see the point of removing the Foursquare and Power Spot Imports from Ingress along with the Courts of the World import, as they don’t appear in Ingress but what’s the value of removing the Ingress-nominated Wayspots from Pokémon GO?
Many of those would have been around for a long time, and may have been updated or be important locations. I would think landmarks like Big Ben or The Eiffel Tower will have lots of photos etc. and would have been submitted long before Pokémon GO had access to submit nominations.
While some of this is tongue-in-cheek, the goal is to address the frustrations players experience in each game.
Far more players than most imagine are dissatisfied with the spots in each game.
As you know, many Ingress agents believe that the number of low-quality portals increased after the OPR transitioned to Wayfarer.
That’s why, when Ingress announced its withdrawal from Wayfarer, most agents on social media expressed support. Incidentally, Pokémon GO (PoGo) trainers were also delighted by this.
Conversely, a significant proportion of Pokémon Go (PoGo) trainers have voiced dissatisfaction on social media about the world of Pokémon Go created by Ingress agents since its early days.
While the scarcity of PokéStops is certainly an issue, other complaints include spots that don’t fit the Pokémon GO worldview and spots dominated by religious facilities and monuments.
Ultimately, this dissatisfaction stems from a difference in values between agents who resonate with Niantic’s founders’ worldview and trainers who want to play a Pokémon game in the real world.
Realistically, rebuilding it from scratch to become the field each side desires would probably be impossible, but it would lead to higher satisfaction.
I think it’s fantastic that most companies don’t bow to the vagaries of social media opinions.
I’ve spent years submitting 1000+ portals, all high quality. Not doing it again.
Where do I apply?
Most likely these users are a drop in a bucket, not a large size and most likely not in the majority.
I think that many of us here in the forums that submitted through both games didn’t quite like that there would be 2 separate maps, 2 separate programs, etc, etc, etc.
Social media algorithms are also designed to show you things that make you fearful and angry, thus many react in these ways, so I wouldn’t judge posts on any social media site that may show up as being what truly is being expressed by the majority. I’ve deleted most of my social media accounts as it’s not that great for my mental health, and I was getting tired of seeing posts that were upsetting at times and sometimes misleading.
Very interesting.
On the other hand, you should consider the possibility that you are in the minority.
Unlike before, today’s Wayfarers are simply wayfinders affiliated with a specific group.
I encourage you to ask players outside your group or community what they think of Wayfarer and wayspots.
This is especially important for Wayfarer ambassadors.
Their opinions differ greatly from those expressed here.
The only negative comments I have had from local Ingress players regarding portals is about non-named trail markers (UK PROWs). Absolutely nothing about junk from Pokemon Go wayfarers or anything like that. This is from IRL conversations.
Please invite them to come to the forum. I’d love to hear their voices
