Got my first decision email for a Portal nomination.
Duplicate as someone else submitted it. I’m not often in Cheltenham and it seemed a very low signal area so thought I would be the only one to submit it, but they did it well so just happy folks there have a new Portal.
Or maybe they do and it allows postboxes since Niantic (Spatial) recognise how wonderful UK postboxes are. I haven’t yet come across absolute coal like the stuff that was coming to reviewers in wayfarer while ML was out of action.
I’ve seen a lot fewer poor submissions so far, but I’ve only reviewed about 80. A random stretch of road, an EIIR post box pretending to be Edwardian for example. Seen a couple of churches as well which is surprising. No obvious fakes so far.
I’ve had submissions from areas that appeal completely void of portals, including a church (in a village that clearly had another one on google maps) and a playground (not a new development). Surprising, especially as I haven’t seen this in wayspots recently and had run out of things to review.
Some poor soul near Bristol has submitted with gobbledygook in both the title and description, presumably to edit later. Rejected three of those now and at least a couple were good ones.
Agreements are slow though, haven’t had a decision myself yet. 122 reviews and just 14 agreements. Still, early days,
I was sUrprised to find an unsubmitted lovely church a few weeks ago….it will have to wait to go into Ingress but it’s on my list of places to submit once I get proper access.
In Ingress you tend to visit the places that have portals. because you are Ingressing. I do enjoy seeking out places that have a shortage of wayspots / portals but for some reason they all seem to be getting further away from where I live.
One of my buddy also said similar thing to the temple where he usually pass haha. Its so big that it can be seen from afar. Even visible from satelite but noone submit
It’s generally acknowledged (by agents) that the Seer medal target is absurd. At one submission a day, and assuming some rejections, an agent can get 300 new portals a year. To get to 5000 portals requires submitting portals every day for around over 13 years without any rejections.
It’s definitely tough to earn the Seer Onyx Medal in terms of numbers.
The Onyx tier for Ingress Origin Medals has extremely high thresholds set for every medal, and the Seer is arguably the most difficult among them.
However, despite this, very few Ingress agents seem to complain about it.
Conversely, many voices express concern that the return of the Seer Medal might encourage agents to submit low-quality portal requests.
In a way, they demand portals of that level of quality.
And that is their unique need, arguably the reason for separating from Wayfarer.
By the way, I’ve heard that only one or two people worldwide have obtained the Seer Onyx Medal.
The impression I get is that as the target is so far from being achievable and most agents aren’t interested in volume submissions, it just gets parked and ignored.
The high threshold for unique portal visits is definitely a challenge, but is /achievable/ through gameplay.
