Location adjustment

Hello,

I’d like to ask you for some tips on how to proceed if I wanted to move one PoI about 5 meters to the neighboring s17 cell so that a PoI would also be created for Pokemon Go players?
I’d like to emphasize that the point of interest would still be located very precisely, as it is only a minor shift, but it would be a great benefit to the local community.
Currently, this POI is only displayed in the Ingress game, from where I am requesting the shift, but unfortunately, I have already been rejected three times.

I would appreciate any advice, thanks in advance to everyone.

If it’s already located correctly, and you’re only doing so to make it appear on one game map, it can be considered abuse.

In addition, as Ingress and Pokémon GO (and thus their maps) now belong to different companies, having a location edit approved on Ingress would not change the location of the Wayspot on Pokémon GO.

As already mentioned, Niantic don’t want us moving PoIs just to make them appear in Go, especially if that is not an accurate move. They want things pinned accurately onto the item.

Having said that, sometimes things are not accurately pinned, and those can absolutely be updated to improve the accuracy, and if that results in it being in a new cell then that’s absolutely fine.

My unofficial rule of thumb is that if something is pinned on a building already and it’s for the building, then that should be accurate enough and it’s not going to make it more accurate to submit any sort of edit. I do not want to be accused of abuse. However, if something is pinned to a specific item like a plaque, sign, feature, or area within a building and its not on that item, then I do think it’s more accurate to suggest that move - for example if its pinned on the centre, or in the driveway, but the nomination is a sign on the frontage, then that might be a valid move request.

I prefer to use the wayfarer help chat for move requests, because I can provide evidence, and they will validate that the move is a good one before doing it. I feel that protects me from any abuse accusations since I’m merely asking for a move and showing my evidence that suggests its an accurate move, and then staff can decide whether to action it or not.

You can legitimately move a wayspot from an OK position to a better position. An example is a wayspot in the middle of a football field can be moved to the edge. This is seen as improving the accuracy of the map.

You cannot legitimately move a wayspot from a good position to a just-as-good position. An example is a wayspot on the edge of a football field cannot be moved to somewhere else on the edge. This is seen as manipulating the map for gameplay reasons.

I see, thanks you all for your valuable inputs.
Can’t find wayfarer help chat though.. could you provide link please?

You can log in into Wayfarer and go to help section, a pop in the right down corner will appear, in which you can select location edit.

This is an example of a non OK position to a correct position as clarified by Niantic.
