Well, that’s a surprise. Has the removal criteria changed?
They have not officially announced any change afaik, but they have been retiring some Wayspots that they previously would not. Starting with individual holes at disc golf courses.
Those makje sense though, as we do have criteria clarification on disc golf courses, and it’s based on safe pedestrian access. Artistic post office boxes, not so much.
I do know of a cable/internet company in my area that has been wrapping their utility boxes with an artistic wrap, but it still has their logo on them and the same art design, like the Canada Post box mentioned here. I know of one that is a Wayspot that I never saw in review (was approved last year before ML really got going), and have rejected others that have been submitted since it’s really just advertisements for said business.
I don’t know if we’ll ever receive full criteria clarification on objects such as this, but I do think more and more Wayfarers seem to not want them. I mean, I don’t want every red concrete sphere outside of almost every Target store to have Wayspots, and I know people are trying to get them approved.
