  • City: Santiago

  • Country: Chile

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): since apparently wayspots painted on lamp posts are not permitted anymore as they are considered vandalism, i’d like to appeal the report of these 3 wayspots.

Thanks for the appeal, @NoctaD. We took another look at the Wayspots in question and decided that they do not meet our criteria for removal at this time.

I used this report as an experiment to prove my point that the removal criteria is based on how artistic the intervention is. A wayspot painted over a public lamp post got removed, I appealed for it to be restored and you refused to do it. Considering the drawings over the wayspot i appealed are kinda low quality (they’re just stencils), these ones I admit are well made so they get to stay. It’s not that is vandalism, is just that the ones from the wayspot I appealed are ugly.

So it is proven if it is pretty it stays, if it isn’t it gets removed. The things we have to do to get information.

Appeal and removal decisions are not to be used as eligibility criteria. With your methods you are making various assumptions which might not be true.

This looks like an intentional public art project. This absolutely meets criteria to be a Wayspot unless it doesn’t actually exist here or there isn’t safe pedestrian access. The others are in this same vein. I don’t know what you submitted that was not accepted, but these are works of art.

Edit: nvm I found it. These are just stencils. Probably vandalism.

An appeal decision does not give any general ruling on acceptability. They are decisions about specific cases.
There are lots of areas in wayfarer where there are judgement calls, and each case needs to be put and decided upon by interpreting the guidelines.
