Back in June, I submitted a nomination for a Soccer Field. There is no other POI present, but there is an imported Powerspot.
My nomination went into Niantic In Review (not Community Voting). It was rejected as a duplicate. I checked yesterday 8/3/25 (over a month after it was marked as a duplicate) at the powerspot, and the imported Powerspot has the photo I submitted.
Before anyone asks, there are no other POIs close to this nomination besides the imported Powerspot.
I know previously if I would submit a POI in an empty cell that it would become a Pokestop & if it was too close to a Powerspot, that the Powerspot would no longer appear in game as a result.
I just wanted to share this situation here on the forum, because it is just extremely odd.

It is known that Niantic reviewers do see Power Spots when they are checking for duplicates, whereas regular reviewers do not see them. Hopefully your situation can be fixed and the wayspot you submitted can actually be added as a wayspot.

That definitely looks like it has been added to an imported power spot based on the existance of a google label and the lack of a description in the screenshot. Did you appeal this decision? Do you have a screenshot of the power spot before your nomination was marked duplicate?

I did not appeal this decision. To be quite honest, I did not know you could appeal a duplicate nomination as I never had a reason before to even try.
Unfortunately, no I do not have a screenshot of the Powerspot before my nomination was marked as a duplicate. I had no reason at the time of submitting the nomination to know that this was going to happen.
Magically, my nomination is now showing up as accepted. Thank you to the person who help me resolve this issue.

I think staff took a look at this thread and overturned the decision.
A great result🤗
