Just a quick question. I don’t recall coming across this before. I went to submit a couple of nominations that I was made aware of. During the submission on one of the nominations I noticed a marker for the site, so I checked Ingress, Pokemon Go and Peridot (apology for swearing!) and could not see the nomination in any of the games. My main concern is If I submit it, will it get rejected even if they don’t appear in the 3 main games on the grounds of it being “Wayspot used in other Niantic Games”?
If it does already exist, then likely your submission would get rejected as a dupe, but the images would be merged in with the existing spot.
So, not a completely lost cause…
Still, you could possibly sign up at https://lightship.dev/ and use the geospatial browser there to check.
There are no dings for duplicate spot though. It is not an offense of any kind, just bad luck.
Oh, or if you’re worried, give the latlng on here and some helpful soul might check for you.
It doesn’t show up in the Geospatial Browser either.
I’ll submit it for now, but just find it strange that it says it exists in the Niantic Games when it doesn’t. I suspect it’s a database import from Niantic that supports the Max Spots for Pokemon Go.
Then you’re probably golden.
Always the chance that someone else already has it in the queue, in which case the end result is the same. But, such is life.
I have several that happened with, going all the way back to 2013. :->
I completely missed the noticed a marker for the site
phrase in your post.
So, yeah. I honestly have no clue. But the geospatial browser should be a valid view into the source of truth.
The only explanation I can think of is it being a Database Import for the Max Spots for Pokemon Go (or something similar). But there is no indicators that it could be seen as a duplicate as it doesn’t appear in any of the games.
Yes, there’s been a recent change whereby all Power Spot locations now show on the check for duplicates map in Pokémon Go, even though the Power Spots that were imported from a third party database are not part of the Lightship database (and thus wouldn’t be marked as duplicates if submitted).
This was first discussed here and has since been discussed here.
