My profile name keeps changing today (18/4/25)
My device is a Samsung S24 Ultra, using chrome browser to access Wayfarer
I am very concerned as to why the spelling keeps changing. I am not doing this myself. My forum profile has the same name. The correct spelling is FrealafGB
I’ll be honest, until you posted this I’ve always been reading your name as “freeleafgb” (which isn’t even one of the options you’re posting here) guess I need to pay more attention
This is a very bizarre bug, I hope they can fix it soon!
Yeah its my cat’s name, from back in 2016. The breeder we got him from was obsessed with Lord of the Rings, so she picked all her cat’s names out of obscure charachters from appendices
I really hope someone can confirm what is happening here. I do not like my name being wrong and its worrying - why is it changing like this? Is someone accessing my account and messing around? But why do this? Could a bug even cause this?
Take a look at your profile summary page in this forum. Mine shows two different capitalizations for me: one is from PoGo, the other was probably what I typed when setting up a Niantic ID.
If your summary page has more than one spelling, perhaps they reflect different games or accounts.
My name is not incorrectly spelled anywhere. As you can see, my forum name is correct, my pokemon go account is correct, and my never used ingress account is correct.
I should probably mention - my cat lived till he was almost 17. I wrote his name a LOT. My phone autocorrects it too since it learnt thats a real word for me. I dont see how it could be my fault that wayfarer is changing the spelling every few minutes?
Do you remember if, at any point in time, you sent that autocorrected spelling to niantic and then later edited it to the correct form? I mean, maybe one of the wayfarer servers in a corner is still using the old data - like the name, play area, etc.? And when you reload the page, it might just depend on which server processed the request?
I have only changed my in game name once, but that only varied the 2 characters on the end, not the name itself. That was back during the pandemic I believe.

It was happening intermittently all weekend, but I havent seen it today (mostly because I cant find any more reviews to do, so haven’t checked as much)
I only have the chrome browser to use.
Currently even my profile page wont load, so I can’t check my name easily

Regarding the review inflow, please try on different locations, changing the Hometown and Bonus locations.
