[Pokemon GO] 20+ pokestops in one s2 cell but only two gyms

  • Description of the issue - there are 20+ pokestops in one s2 cell but only two gyms - maybe a bug?
  • Date - Just noticed today while looking at the wayfarer map
  • Game - Pokemon GO

Hey all, I recently started using Wayfarer for pokestop contributions. I read a guide on creating pokestops and gym creation rules. I noticed that on the guide it said there should be 20 or more pokestops to have three gyms in one s2 cell. On the map (attached an image of the cell from the Wayfarer map) there are more than 20 pokestops (blue) but only two gyms (red). Could this be a bug or a sync timing issue? Does it take a few days for a gym to be created from a pokestop?

Do you have sponsored gym? Sponsored gym count towards these max allowable gym.

There are no issues with density & inclusion rules or sync at this location.

We apologize for any disappointment this may cause, however, not all Ingress Portals become PokéStops or Gyms. If you’re looking for new PokéStops and Gyms, try visiting a local park, tourist attraction, or other interesting and historical locations in your surrounding communities.

You actually have four gyms in this L14. Two of them are sponsored. They do count towards the total that the community has observed an L14 S2 cell can have. They do not show up on the Wayfarer map, but they do show up on the PokemonGo.com map.

I thought sponsored gyms do not count (from the guide) but I guess it was wrong information. Thanks for the explanation!
