Possibly not receiving emails now

Earlier this week, when I was trying to help someone that was not receiving any emails from Wayfarer, including those for nominations/edits, I clicked on the Unsubscribe button in the challenge reward email to see what it does. It unsubscribed me from what I thought was the reward emails, which I then thought I went back and changed to be subscribed to.

Now, I was keeping my eye on some Wayspots that I had submitted removal requests for that I hadn’t heard back on. I just noticed one of them was removed (murals that had been removed and I had provided a photo of the current location), but I never received a confirmation email that the report was accepted. I checked another one that I hadn’t heard back about (unsafe location with no pedestrian access), and I also didn’t receive an email for it. They also aren’t in my junk mail, and I do have all revelent email addresses, such as notices@wayfarer.nianticlabs.com, added to my address book and safe senders list.

Also, I submitted a description edit for a batting cage at a local park that went into Under Review the other day, and I just checked my Contribution Management, and it was approved, yet I never received an email that it was accepted.

Could staff take a look to make sure that I’m subscribed to received all revelent emails? I use the same email address for both of my login options, Facebook and Google, but mainly use Google for logging in.

Thanks!

And tonight, I submitted 3 nominations and received no emails. They are in Contribution Management, but no emails were received after submitting them.

And why exactly does the rewards emails have an unsubscribe link in them? That’s a little confusing, IMO.

Bumping, since the weekend is over. Still not getting emails, yet more Wayspots I requested to be removed have been removed.

Just to quickly check, how did you do the “resubscribing”? (because I literally don’t know where this is) By going to that same link at the bottom of the rewards email?

It’s in the challenge rewards emails at the bottom by the Niantic logo and socials links, so anyone could do it.

It unsubscribes you right away, but then there is an option to change preferences, and that takes you to another page. However, that page doesn’t seem to work, and seemed also to be for challenge reward emails, but it’s confusing. I didn’t seem to get any type of confirmation, as it just kept going back to that preference page. I tried several times, too, and don’t want to try again.

It sure would be nice to have an email preferences area in Settings…

Also, since I last posted, I had 2 POIs accepted, and no emails for them.

I think subscriptions are managed by the email provider. You may need to check with them. Having said that, I’ll check and see if we could do something from our end.

I looked into our database and can see that the emails are not getting sent to you because you’re still unsubscribed to Wayfarer emails.

If you wish to continue receiving them, please subscribe to the emails again. If you’re not sure how to do it, I suggest you reach out to your email provider.

Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thanks,

Sorry to hear that @DTrain2002.
IOS or Android?

Um, it’s email, so operating system shouldn’t matter. I’ve had this email address before smartphones were even around.

I rarely use my phone for email, and was on my Windows 11 laptop using Chrome while helping the other user, so I was using my email provider’s web based platform and not a 3rd party app/software.

I really don’t want to mess with that page again, as it never confirmed I was subscribed again. All it did was ho around in circles, taking me back to the beginning whenever I tried to subscribe again.

How is this my email provider’s issue when I clicked on the link to to unsubscribe at the bottom of the challenge reward email, trying to help out another user? That user clicked on a similar link in one of the survey emails a couple years back. Here’s that thread, BTW.

Because the subscibed/unsubscribed list is managed by them. There is nothing we can do.

I clicked on a link that was in the email for the rewards, one that you provided, not my email provider. I even provided a screenshot.

My email provider hasn’t updated their web based email services in about 20 years. It isn’t Gmail, it isn’t Outlook. It’s from a former internet provider that allowed me to keep my email address after dropping their internet services, but their technology is quite behind the times when it comes to email services.

Aw man I’m sorry you’re having issues with this after helping me.

On the subscribe page, you should see a button that says something like “Opt-In to All Communications”. Below that are a couple of sliders that you can toggle for various emails. Ignore the sliders. Click on the opt-in button and don’t touch the sliders afterwards. Doing this fixed my issue.

I hope this helps, sorry again for putting you through all this trouble :frowning:

Yes, I went there, but nothing happened. No confirmation that I was subscribed. Just kept taking me back to the beginning.

All it confirmed was I was opted out again. I just tried again, even though I didn’t want to, and it just says I’m opted out, not opted back in to any emails.

Nothing I do on this page does anything other than looping me to it again, or unsubscribing me.

Here’s the screen before that.

No Opt-In options at all.

I think Aaron is suggesting that you search for how to manage unsubscribe/resubscribe lists in {your-email-name}.

Be it AOL, Yahoo!, or your old university, there may be simple instructions available online that will allow you to whitelist Niantic’s missives through your email provider.

Can you try the desktop page?
Try these steps:
Make sure the sliders are both set to “No”.
Hit “Save Preferences”.
Hit “Opt Out of All Emails”.
Hit “Opt-In + Restore Preferences”

The green “Opt-Out Preferences Updated!” banner is the only visible indication that you have opted back in for emails, so once you see that you’re all finished.

Not all do, and I’ve had this email address for 23 years, so I’m pretty familiar with the workings. They’ve never had a subscription management area.

I did this on my laptop originally, but am not at it currently. I’ll try again there. There just wasn’t any Opt-In + Restore Preferences for me.
