I have a question about a profile picture. Is there a way I can add a profile picture to this account? Instead of being forced to use this generic M logo? I prefer to use my own photo then something generic personally. However if there’s no other options or no ability to I understand that. I get there are a few bad apples out there that can ruin these types of things for everyone. Although I personally prefer people to know that they’re talking to a real person with real feelings and not just some generic looking profile.

Thank you for the help I am still new to this particular part of the community. I want to be an active member. As I am very active in ingress. I play Pokemon but mostly with my kids and for my kids. I love Pikmin as well. Anyways I guess what I’m saying is I am a huge Niantic fan. When I wish there was a way to post actual photos of ourselves how did you get yours up do you have to be a leader to be able to do that? How do you become a leader for your area? Although I do believe everybody considers me the team leader for the New Mexico area at least one of them anyways. How can it become more official though I wonder?

So many questions! Hello! Welcome. It’s nice to find someone who is excited to join the community and become active. We get many new people, but they often just want their one question answered, and then they’re gone.
There’s a lot to Wayfarer. On the surface, it seems like a simple concept. But it’s like an iceberg, what you see is only about 10% of what’s really going on with the system.
The good news is that you’ve found the place where you can learn about the other 90%. I suggest that you read the answers people write. Learn from those. Don’t take it personally if someone writes an answer that disagrees with your understanding of Wayfarer. There are people in this community who have years of institutional knowledge around this stuff.
In terms of leadership, as you develop your deeper understanding of WF, try to share that with your community. (But don’t be disappointed or surprised when they aren’t as excited as you, we’ve all been there.) Then if you want to grow to be a leader on a national or global scale, there is a Wayfarer Ambassador program.
You can search for that term to see the postings about it on the forum. I am in my second (and final) year of being an Ambassador. It’s a lot of work, but we all hope that we’ve helped bring community concerns to Niantic and get them resolved faster and in ways that Wayfinders want to see. If you develop the knowledge and skills to qualify as an Ambassador, the annual application process is in February.

I know the ability is there in the new forum software but I guess it’s down to the @admins to enable and set up the feature as I use this forum software in a few locations and by default it is set to all levels to “change there profile picture” and “Edit There AutoBiography (Profile Info)” it may just be a case that the Niantic Team have customised it to a certain Level of Trust within the community for sticking around as a type of reward.
Saying that they could have disabled it on purpose to avoid abuse from users like @seaprincesshnb said who only wants to ask there question and then leave and go back to the game and not return for weeks on end.
Those users that stick around like Ambassadors/Leaders may have that ability enabled on there forum level.
But I do agree it’s a basic feature that people would like to say “this is my online personality here me roar”
I don’t know if this helps but I’ve been playing Ingress long before Wayfair was a thing. I believe since November of 2017 is around the time I started to play. So it has been a while I am deeply committed to this game. I do try out of their new games as well. I have become a huge fan of Pikmin. I would like to become more actively involved, because I feel like a large chunk of my former Enlightened Community lost interest after they changed it from Ingress to Ingress prime. On top of that a lot of people became agitated with the lack of discipline towards the people that were involved with harassing us using the Brokers Guild shenanigans. A lot of us felt like those players, and the ones carrying out the orders for those players probably should have been permanently banned because they hurt a large chunk of the community at hand on both sides.
In fact some of those players were the reason that house portal I was talking about got removed on a different post. They didn’t get punished for their behavior not even temporarily suspended for their Brokers Guild activities. Instead they just kept finding new ways to troll people. I know the things that they’re doing now are things randomly getting removed that we use and play from often, and they like to change the names and pictures on things. They also deny as many new portals in the area as they can. They don’t care who submits it they just deny deny deny, because they for whatever reason get something out of keeping players on both sides from playing and earning badges as much as possible.
I have personally hit my limit with it . That is why I would like to be more active to live by a better example. In my experience trolling back doesn’t do anyone good. I want people on both sides to play this game, and earn badges/level up. I’d like to help make the community better by finding, and recruiting more enlightened but also train and recruit better resistance players as well.
I am hoping by doing so they will be discouraged from their trolling ways, or at least be ashamed of the ways they play either be better, or just stop playing all together if they can’t be good sports about it. That t:here whole telling resistance players who visit the area not to fully deploy or link because they don’t want us to get the purifier badge will be outdated by more positive players picking up the game instead. Even for that shattered Memories Shard game we had here they refused to help their own local player it was sad to watch. Don’t get me wrong I was thrilled that we won with the perfect score. However it was sad to see that they couldn’t even participate in the basic community events that are meant to bring two sides to together for a good old fashioned battle with good sportsmanship in the process. The only resistance player that played had no idea what to do. That was really hard for me to watch him not understand what was going on from a distance. Although I have to admit that was my first Shard event so I barely understood what was going on at that time.
I guess in my novel what I’m trying to say is that I have a desire to grow a community in this state again. It’s nice being a leader for New Mexico, but it would be nicer to be more involved in the mechanics of the community as well. I want to try to figure out ways to encourage more people to play on both teams not just the enlightened here. And I feel like a good way to do that would be to try to apply to become an ambassador at some point at least. I would like to get the basics of how to do all this stuff and more at some point. Thank you for reading my rant guys sorry about that. I’ll just say it’s been a very long 7 years with ups and downs. I’m hoping to make things better as a whole and maybe on a global scale. Not just a Statewide scale.

OK, this all sounds very Ingress related. The role of a WF ambo is not to encourage game play. That doesn’t mean that we can’t be highly involved in our gaming communities. That’s just not the focus for our ambassador work.
PGO has a system that recruits local people like you’re describing called Community Ambassadors. That’s a completely different program. It is designed to do all that you’re talking about but within the PGO game.
There was a program for Ingress at one time called Vanguards. I have no idea what the future state of that program may be. That’s what it sounds like you might be describing. I only dabble with Ingress. When I do play, I only play against Machina portals because I don’t like the aggressive style of play people use against each other. Unfortunately, if this conversation is going to be about Ingress or PGO leadership, this isn’t the place for it. And neither of those games have official forums. Reddit is the only place for Ingress. I don’t have a clue where PGO people are supposed to talk about this kind of stuff.
To add in to what @seaprincesshnb has said, some Vanguards are still around, but Ingress will have a new Player Ambassador before the end of the year.
Effective 15 April 2024, both the Vanguard and XMA programs will be retired in their current form and we will relaunch a new, unified Player Ambassador program before the end of 2024.
You could raise any concerns about Ingress with them once they are in place.
There’s also an Ingress podcast that some random guy does called Ingress Insights that may help out with other things. Can always let them know things you want to hear discussed.

Yes! The resistance is extremely aggressive, and bitter here. I don’t like it at all. I am trying to make a good community X-factor environment. What is wayfair’s purpose then if not to make portals pokestops/flowers for games? And to make the database larger and to encourage Fair gameplay? I thought this was the space for trying to make things Fair where Niantic would actually hear your concerns about players being aggressive or having Shady tactics? We actually had something get spoofed earlier today with one of my players a lot of his hard anchors got spoofed and I would like to bring up these things because that’s not fair gameplay for the person who’s actually going out to the portals and driving to them to link them out. I don’t like when people cheat it takes the fun part of the game out which is getting off your butt and out of the house and exploring a new area. Anyways I’m still interested in the ambassador program even if it has nothing to do with Ingress. I am trying to get more involved in these types of communities. Especially since I play every single game Niantic has out

And I honestly believe that the Wayfinder experience is much better than it would have been without the the efforts of the 3 years of input.
If only we could be in control 
So keep points coming about Wayfarer we might have raised them already and the community saying them again enforces that, or we are always on the look out for different experiences and solutions. It is a global community and experience of wayfarers varies a lot.
And we are constantly looking at the forum experience which is why this category exists.
