ML rejected this waystop, can anyone help me understand why? I’ll save you from the Portuguese title and description, but I can guarantee that those are not the problem.
This is a public space where a few street cats live, and while I usually agree that animal shelters shouldn’t be WayStops, these ones invite people to leave food and water, and all the animals are vaccinated and friendly, so I’d say they are " A great place for exploration".
Why can’t ML just say the reason why it was rejected? I always have to navigate the criteria to try to understand why something is rejected. If the AI can’t tell me the reason, why isn’t it going straight to reviewers? And why does it take 3 days to be rejected by AI?
P.S.: I’m sorry for the rant at the end, I just want to hear your opinion.
ML rejects when it doesn’t detect anything that it understands could be eligible in your submission. I think this makes it very clear that you need to rework and rethink the entire nomination. Asking for opinions here is a great start. I agree with @seaprincesshnb about not seeing any reason this would be eligible.
100% people learn something about their community here. It was requested by the community that these shelters where put in place, I’ve seen multiple people feed the cats, including the times where a few people gather to see them. It shows the compassion and love that both the neighbors and municipal entities decided to take instead of just putting them in cages or worse. Plus these are not “feral” cats, these are well taken care off, fully vaccinated and sterilized cats.
This one hard to say. I can see if cat person might want to socialize here with fellow cat person to feed the cat. And the structure of the shelter looks unique enough. I never see something like that here.
Anyway. Regarding ML automated rejection…just resubmit. Try better photo. If u fail after taking multiple angle..try appeal. Personally i think that worth a shot
I have appealed. I do agree that is not a straight yes, however I have seen WayStops in my area that are way less “criteria matches” than this one (for example, post offices meet none of the criteria and it’s way more of a stretch on the question “Do people learn something about their community here?”). I mentioned why I think it meets the criteria and hopefully it gets approved.
I do feel that appealing when the ML model is rejecting a nomination you feel it shouldn’t is a great idea. That is how it learns. Let us know how it goes, please!
Post offices have been part of the criteria since the early days. Keeping in touch via mail is a form of socialising. It’s a fairly old fashioned way of socialising by today’s standards, sure, but it’s still a valid way of socialising even when you’re not able to physically be together.
