Real square but fake picture and name

Hi there,

In my parents neighbourhood there is a square with benchs and palm trees that is usually used by the neighbors, so I think it is a good Wayspot. The problem is that for some reason, the picture is not from the actual square, but from somewhere else. Also the name is wrong, because it is “Street name park”, but it is not a park.

I tried to change the name and picture a couple of times via Pokemon Go, but my submittions keep being rejected.

What can I do?

I think what you are running into is this being a complete change of the Wayspot. The playground should be reported for removal and the square submitted as a new Wayspot.

But what would they report it for?

If you can find where the playground really is, you can ask help chat to move it for you. You access help chat through the help menu on the website and a speech bubble will pop up.

There are a few playgrounds in the area in other plazas and parks, but none of those look like what is pictured for parque infantil Aries at 36.684888, -6.102523, the Wayspot in question. Street View for this area goes back to November 2008, and no playground seems to ever been in the plaza. And a reverse image search of the current photo doesn’t bring back any results.

Yes, the Wayspot should be removed, as it’s not a real place, and once removed, the plaza can be resubmitted with the correct info. It can’t be changed because they are 2 different POIs. You can find more information about requesting removal here:

Removal because there is no playground there. Street View as far back as 2008 does not show a playground.

Edit: Oh, if you meant WHY would they report it, then the answer is that they do not have to. But any edits sent to try to update the existing playground Wayspot to change it to the plaza/square would be considered trying to “repurpose” it, and Niantic considers that abuse. They can definitely choose to live with it as is if they do not want to report.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. If the waystop needs to be removed, then I won’t make that request, since, in my experience, submitting plazas like this one is piky. Half of them do not pass the Niantic filter, and the other half are, most of the time, rejected by reviewers. I got a couple of them approved, but took a few attempts, so I do not think it worth the time and effort in this case…

In addition, even if I report it and submit a new one with real information, there is no guarantee that they wayspot will be added to Pokemon Go…

This feels like Niantic does not help/care about having the appropriate info about wayspots…

Again the picture displays a playground that doesn’t exist and never ever existed there. I don’t know where the picture is from but definitely not from this plaza:

In this case, as the plaza has a name, I tried to renamed it from " Parque Infantil De La Plaza Andrómeda" to “Plaza Andrómeda”, so maybe later I could try to replace the picture by the following one with the plaza name:

But the new name got rejected… Do you think this is the same scenario than the original one reported on this post or do I have any chance of the name being changed?

In the park there are a few health machines for people, and that is a wayspot, however, the name is “Biosaludables La Marquesa”. The park is in the middle of two neighborhoods, La Canaleja, and La Milagrosa. Since the park is indeed called “Parque La Canaleja”, I think the waypot shouuld be “Biosaludables La Canaleja”, especially because La Marquesa is a different neighborhood (in red, La Marquesa neighborhood, and in green, the park):
