Rejected waypoint

I nominated a public post box which was rejected as the reviewers deemed it to be on private residential property.
This is ridiculous, a post box is by definition publically accessible. The collection time can clearly be seen on the box.
Like a lot of public post boxes it is near a private residence, but is most certainly open to all and it is in no way trespassing to walk up and drop a letter in it for the Post office to collect and deliver.
I had full faith in the nomination as it is a historically significant post box because it has been in use for over 100 years and is still actively used today.

Hello and welcome @testyfy

I presume this is a U.K. postbox? We have a whole long topic about them

I shall move this to Nomination Support.
It would be helpful if you can supply the full nomination and co ordinates please.

Some postboxes are in the sides of houses. These are unfortunately strictly not eligible.

To add to what the others have said, here is the clarification on what is and is not classed as single family private residential property:

Just because something can be or is intended to be accessed from the pavement, it doesn’t mean it won’t fall foul of the private residential property rule that wayfarer has in place. This is one of the more rigidly defined and enforced rules.

Thank you, no it is not in the UK. It is in Dublin Ireland, a Queen Victoria period post box painted green after independence in 1922. This is what makes it historically significant. I will attach some details about my submissions. However I don’t have the exact co-ordinates

Same problem, same rules, same correct rejection due to SFPRP.

If the property behind that wall is not SFPRP, but is multi-family, e.g., apartments, you will need to provide evidence of this.

You can find this in the submission receipt email below the two photos.

Thank you, salixsorbus. (53.594010, -6.268245)

There is no house or apartments. No residential building behind the wall

Found it using that stupid HPVJ+RP thing that google do.

I think this is at best the outside boundary of a farm and actually could be treated as being entirely within the farm property. Unfortunately, farms are as ineligible as SFPRP (except for easements for public footpaths).

It certainly is a farm boundary. Where the pictured vehicle is parked can be accessed by any member of the public to use the historical post box. Many including myself walk this route, also many cyclists and runners pass by. Thank you for your correspondence and interest in my post.

I entirely get that and I have come across old VR postboxes in the UK which were rejected for the same reason. The rules around anything attached to external property boundaries are harsh but are extremely unlikely to be flexed. Sometimes, community reviewers don’t notice or don’t care, but appeal reviewers always will.

Thanks again and have a nice day, and may the IVs forever be in your favour :100:

I’m not sure if it will help or hurt your cause. Looks like behind the wall is “Reynoldstown Animal Farm”. I’m not finding a website for that, but they do (did?) have a small YouTube channel.

I have re-submitted the post box hopefully it gets accepted by the community reviewers.
Yes the Pet Farm is now closed. But I can tell you the name of the black dog in the videos, her name was Ruby a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, she passed away n early 2024. She was a sweetheart, gentle with ducklings, children and newly hatched chicks, she only hunted Rattattas
