Relocate a gym in Pokemon Go?

Hi, my names Gavin and Im a Pokemon Go player from the UK. Since Ive been able, Ive been creating new stops and Gyms into my town I have over 130+ which have gone into various Niantic Games.

Ive recently had a third gym accepted into a cell because more than 20 stops have been accepted. The gym which has spawned is located on an island in the town centre which you cant access except for one day a year when theres a memorial service and the road is closed. Im worried due to the location of this gym people may get injured trying to reach the gym as its on an extremely busy road with no traffic lights. You can only just reach the radius of the gym from the path across the road.

I was wondering is it possible to get the gym relocated to the centre of town where there isnt traffic and its a much safer location?

Ive created this point of interest on the map for people to reach and i wouldn’t want anyone getting injured on my behalf.

The correct course of action is for this wayspot to be removed as it is not safely accessible. If it is on a traffic island, it almost certainly should not have been accepted originally.

There is no possibility of moving a gym from one wayspot to another because the current wayspot is unsafe.

I agree, out of curiosity if I was to get this wayspot removed for being in an unsafe location. That would mean there would be 19 wayspot within that grid. If a 20th was created would the gym come back again but in another location of an existing wayspot and is there a way of promoting one of them to become a gym over any others? Thanks

Yes, when you get back to 20 total Pokestops and gyms, you will get a third gym. It could even be the newly accepted Wayspot. However, if there is a Sponsored stop in the L14 S2 cell, then it will count as the third gym, and you would not get another. Niantic has called it abuse in the past to try to force a certain Pokestop to become a gym. This has been discussed on the current forum, but staff has not made a comment here: From PokeStop to Gym?

We have found that a Showcase stop will not be promoted to a gym.

The promotion of pokestops into gyms is done effectively randomly. It is not possible to choose which pokestop will be promoted.

If this wayspot is removed and another one subsequently approved in the same L14 cell, in an empty L17 cell so bringing the count back to 20, it would be normal to get a new gym.
