Removal Appeal: Michigan Lighthouses 129 LLC

  • Wayspot Title: Michigan Lighthouses 129 LLC

  • Location (lat/lon): 42.418927,-83.336031

  • City: Livonia

  • Country: USA

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): The address that this way spot exists at is a single family private residential property. There is no evidence that this way spot even exists. The city’s official zoning map indicates this property is zoned as “N1 Neighborhood,” indicating that is indeed private residential property. The zoning map also does not show the property as being multi-family neighborhood. I strongly believe this rejection should be overturned, and the way spot retired. Thank you.

Some things I came across searching:

This shows the property where the Wayspot is located. The dinosaurs in the yard actually show up on streetview.

The article contains this quote from the person interviewed (my bolding):

The story is, the first Christmas after we moved into our new house on Middlebelt six years ago we found our first inflatable dinosaur at Home Depot, the brontosaurus. Being huge dinosaur lovers we knew we had to get it.

The wording used describes it as their “house”, not their “business”.

There’s also this page for Michigan Lighthouses 129 which includes this property’s address:

They also have a website, which indicates they have curbside pickup at this address:

My take is it is a private residential property which is also being used for a home business.

I don’t know how Niantic will view, as decisions about these sorts of Wayspots in the past have been somewhat inconsistent.

The fact remains that the property is officially zoned as a single family private residential property according to the city’s zoning map. The property’s primary use is as a single family private residence regardless of any business being operated from the property. Hopefully this is clear in my appeal.

Absolutely, people work from home and even run small businesses all the time, but the house is zoned residential and if someone else were to move in, doesn’t mean the house will still be the site of a home-based business.

Thanks for the appeal, @sunkast After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.
