Request to restore a relocated and removed wayspot

  • Wayspot Title: CAMH -Plaque 1
  • Location (lat/lon): (43.644144, -79.416239)
  • City: Toronto
  • Country: Canada
  • Additional Information (if any): There are several “CAMH Plaques”, 5 or 6 in total across the entirety of the CAMH grounds, but this one, #1, was not present (yet) within Pokémon Go. In September I submitted for the wayspot to be added and it was approved, and existed for several months. In April I submitted for it to be moved slightly to better represent it’s location, and then, once this move was approved, the wayspot was removed entirely. I humbly request for the original wayspot to be restored.

DONE

Welcome to the forum @Coconutimbit

I can still see this Wayspot in Ingress, and as the location edit was approved prior to Niantic stopping the automatic syncing of the database to Ingress, this seems to indicate that the wayspot is still in the database and has not been removed.

Given that this seems to be the case, I’m going to guess that what has happened is that the plaque was moved into a Level 17 S2 Cell that already contains a Pokéstop or Gym. If you can see CAMH Gazebo in Pokémon Go as a Pokéstop or Gym, that is occupying the same Level 17 S2 Cell as the location you moved the plaque to. When you move a Pokéstop or Gym into a Level 17 S2 Cell that already contains a Pokéstop or Gym, it is expected behaviour that the one being moved will disappear from Pokémon Go in order to maintain the density rules used in that game.

As such, the team will likely be unable to restore this, as it still exists in the database, and it disappearing from Pokémon Go is intended behaviour.

The Gazebo is not a Pokestop/Gym within Pokemon Go.

How about “Memorial Wall for Patient Labourers”. Does that appear? It’s also in the same Cell.

This stop is the only one I’ve successfully contributed to the game, and its absence has been deeply disappointing.

Could you please review the most recent edit and consider reverting it to restore the stop’s visibility? I’d truly appreciate any help resolving this matter.

The trouble you have with that request is that location edits should only be done to make wayspot locations more accurate. Presumably that’s why you submitted an edit in the first place, and it’s now in the correct location. Attempting to get it moved away from an accurate location just so that it appears in Pokémon Go would be considered abuse, unless you can prove using geotagged photos that it’s still not in the right location (which would then still have issues, because that would make your original location edit against the rules instead).

I get that it might be disappointing, but Pokémon Go has always had these proximity rules, and sometimes it means that good wayspots end up being unable to be used as Pokéstops or Gyms.

In all fairness it’s the difference of less than a meter from where it was to where it is now. Like it must have been directly on top of the C2 cell border.

It was:

So then in theory, considering that it is #1 in a series of 5 or 6 historical plaques along the entire grounds of the property, moving it back to where it originally was, all of 30cm to the East, should not be a problem.

Moving a correctly pinned Wayspot for game manipulation is considered abuse, as was already said:

Idk how you submitted the edit the first time, but if it is correctly pinned now, it is not worth risking being banned from the games to try to put it back imo.

Look in that L17 cell that is currently empty for something there you can submit. And just to be clear because I have been misquoted in the past, I mean find a point of interest that exists there, don’t just pin there.

Well I definitely don’t want to get my account banned.

Would you kindly share where you got your map image from?

This is iitc, a map of Ingress portals, with a pogotools overlay to show cells. There is a readme on the pogotools link that walks you through the install. I have been told that I can’t share a link to this directly on the forum because it is the type of file that could do harm, but that I could leave a screenshot:

The thing is that with the Scopely separation of Ingress from Wayfarer that this is not being updated regularly now, and at some point won’t show new Wayspots at all, so idk how valuable it would be to set it up at this time. We have petitioned for the need for a map and staff have acknowledged the request.

Even if your nomination cant become pokestop/gym. It might still become power spot from time to time
