Should I appeal this when I get the opportunity?

This restaurant has been in the local area for quite some time and has not closed down (as far as I know). This isn’t part of a chain, and isn’t (for sure) open certain times of the year. I know people do reject based on random criterials, but am wondering (regardless of reasons provided) whether this was rightly rejected and I should carry on with my persuit of joy and happiness? Or is there merit in either appealing (when it becomes available to me) or resubmitting?

Hey,

Restaurants can be great places to be social and great places to explore. So, if this restaurant is primarily for delivery, it may not fit into “socialize” category. Moreover, for restaurants, it’s important to add context. Why is the place a good place to be social or a great place to explore.

My understanding is that it’s a restaurant that also offers delivery… I don’t know the ratio of restaurant users over delivery. I need to think about why it is a good place to social, but the main factor will be the good food and the fact that it’s the only Jamaican restaurant in the area…

I love me a good restaurant nomination. Unfortunately, looking at the website, it does mention that they “are committed to providing the best food and drink experience in your own home.” which tells me that they are a takeout/delivery only restaurant which unfortunately doesn’t qualify.

However, if there is seating inside, then you’re halfway there.

You’re on the right track with the only Jamaican restaurant angle. I would emphasize the aspect of it being the only one, and the only location in the area where you can get authentic Jamaican food. A place where you can go and experience a culture, and a cuisine that isn’t normally available in the area. A place where you can sit with family or friends and escape to Jamaica.

Good luck!

Google Maps does list that this restaurant has dine-in, takeout, and delivery. There are also photos there showing people eating there, and that they do have buffets on the weekends, as well as hosting dinner parties. It’s not a large dining area, but there are some tables, as well as a counter with stools. You can even see the door next to these tables inside in this photo on Google Maps.

It’s possible, like many restuarants during the pandemic, that they switched to doing more delivery and takeout during that time, but since then, have started to have more dine-in options. The weekend buffets seem to have started up earlier this year, back in March, from what i found.

That website needs a serious overhaul lol

@P1dg3ySlayer I’d use this as well, according to Google it hosts dinner parties and buffets. More points towards it being a “Good place to socialize”

I’d appeal this with all of the info above.

Intersting perspective, but can a take out only location be eligible when it is the only such establishment or “best” establishment in the area?
I seek out (explore) dining establishments for unique tastes. Dine-in only adds to the social experience, to me.

It is common in the U.K. to offer both dine in and takeaway. This looks fairly typical both my local restaurants do a lot of takeaway trade as well as offering a proper sit down dining experience.

A lot of restaurants are now providing the angle of providing similar experiences of food and drink in ones home in the post pandemic era. So if people are latching onto that as a rejection reason, it’s something I need to think about.

From what I gather, there is seating inside, which is the basis for my nomination in the first place. But thanks for taking the time to comment. Appreciated.

This isn’t a take out only location from what I can ascertain from the reviews and the information I have gathered.

I saw that later messaging. However, I am still concerned with a statement from Niantic that offers their opinion on criteria and reviewing that may be considered clarification and hoped for reconsideration of the wording.

I understood what NianticAaron was trying to get at with his comment. I need to be more clearer with my nomination to promote it as being a restaurant in the description and supporting information. It’s a bad habbit of mine where I don’t state things that need to be included.

If you include the bit about delivery reviews - then also say that this nom is for the dining in part of the business.

Looks like a typo caused this confusion. I had typed “good place to be social” twice. One was supposed to be “explore”. This has now been fixed.

If your intent is to say it can still meet exploration (as I suggest), I believe it should read

[…] It cannot fit into the socialize category.

Agreed!

Resubbed the nomination with additional info based on this group and it got approved. Thanks for the help.
