Should nominations be automatically put on hold instead of in queue?

Just a random thought… and I can see the argument both ways… but am wondering, if nominations should be placed on hold automatically when you submit them rather than placed in queue, essentially getting us to log into Wayfarer to check if the nomination needs editing (spelling corrections, bolstering description, etc) before placing them in the queue? I could accept that the nominations should be on hold for 24 to 48 hours and if no edits are made, they should be placed in the queue.

I am sure I’ll get shot down in flames with this suggestion, but it’s something that crossed my mind, as putting them on temporary auto-hold would encourage me to submit the nomination when I am able when I am out and about, rather than waiting to submit when I get home, put them on hold, edit and then release.

You don’t like playing the ‘Will my submission only have half the correct text’?

I find it adds a bit of excitement to the extremely dull and monotonous system Niantic have created for submitting.

I live my life by the not knowing if I need to correct. It’s the life of the Dyslexic… knowing I messed up and wondering if my nominations will get rejected because I spelt received as recieved.

When i hit submitted, im verifying that all the information i have inputed is accurate, so no, i would not like an extra step beyond that.

Along with the trouble it causes @P1dg3ySlayer the character limit for submitting in Go is ridiculously low. How about a setting that lets you toggle that option on or off?

I’m sure there is a Wayfarer tool that does it by adding #Hold to your support so it shouldn’t be too difficult to implement.

The Go team could also fix the low character limit… Just kidding don’t let them near it :joy:

I don’t want to write an essay on the move… I’ll be happy for a 20 character limit on Pokemon Go if it makes it easier for me to edit afterwards. :grimacing:

Submitting in the rain makes me glad to have something that resembles english in each field, then I hit submit before the rain drops can delete everything I wrote.

Yes to an optional hold period!

You could just submit then switch to wayfarer and place on hold … if you wanted to polish later

Not always easy to do when you are on the move.

there should be a setting that lets you turn auto hold on or off with the setting off by default. many casual folks have never logged into the website and that’s fine, but their nominations shouldn’t auto hold. but for those of us who know we want it, the feature would be invaluable

Auto hold (not via choice) is probably the wrong way for me to look at what I am after… Auto hold by choice would be a better option.

Sorry I was summoned by someone talking about increasing character limit?

I can have titles longer than 128 characters?

I think @26thDoctor wanted a 5 character limited placed on their submissions. I could be wrong…

I’d just like to not have to write out my submission on notepad or whatever then get to description go back to notepad, copy, go back to Go, paste. Copy support from notepad, paste at which point half of the text disappears, submit. Wait for the email notification, log into Wayfarer then paste the full support.

I have seen reports of “Upload later” submissions going immediately into voting on upload. I think @NvlblNm was one of the ones who reported a decision within minutes. There needs to be an option to turn on auto hold.

My suggestion doesn’t come without faults or issues… But I hope that the idea, in whatever form, does have some merit that can be considered.

In the meantime, there is a tool that does this at wayfarer.tools

I have the tool installed, but I would guess it would need me to log into Wayfarer and go to the nominations tab for it to kick in. Great idea, but not something I could remember.

I don’t use it either for the opposite reason lol. I remote submit from home and immediately edit on my computer. But I believe it just does it for you if you put “#hold” in the supporting. [Edit: that last sentence was incorrect.]

But I was mainly supporting that the idea does have merit, and that there is a demand for this functionality.

I also think they reported that

I dug up the screenshot they shared previously:

I would definitely use an auto-hold feature. The tools available would not have helped me in this scenario, because I didn’t refresh the site in time to catch the nomination in queue.
