Street view images are not sufficient for a >10m move?

I’ve been involved in a help chat to move a wayspot >10m.

I was informed that the Street View imagery was insufficient to support the move. But I’m pretty sure they have been in the past.

Is this a new policy?

Unfortunately the spot is currently damaged, so until it gets repaired, I can’t get a good geotagged photo so…

If anyone wants to offer advice:

Current: 37.420625,-122.082054
Suggested: 37.420428, -122.081846

Nov 2021 (visible, but new construction makes it hard to find a good view): https://maps.app.goo.gl/pAJKrWHzRQ4ovaU6A

This actual wayspot looks like it has always been in the wrong spot, and now that I’m trying to fix it, it a double whammy. And to top it off, this is the wayspot image:

And this is what it looks like today:

(which is why I wanted to use the SV image as it was still in good shape)

I mean, maybe this would be better as a removal, but still, how would I prove that really is the current sign when the spot is so far off the correct location?

Do a scaniverse scan?
And it sounds as though a removal and fresh submission once it’s sorted would be best.

Hah! Scaniverse was their first suggestion as well.

But, Android, and cheap phone that can’t do any AR stuff, so I doubt it’ll support splats either. Will find out soon, I suppose.

They are sorting out android access ……as I use iPhone I lost track.

Yup. Hence the “will find out soon” bit.

Those look like two different things. I think Niantic wants us to replace the old with the new. I’d add the current sign at the correct location (even if it would be invisible at first), then try to remove the one that’s gone.

Nope. The same thing. Just the actual message has come unglued from the board and needs to be replaced.

Alas, some of the players around here are fast-and-loose with correct placement, so it has probably always been in the wrong location (can’t verify as I took some time off, and only been back to that location on a daily basis for a few months). But it is currently in a location that was never valid.
