So I upgraded a nomination earlier this morning a couple hours ago and it’s still just sitting in queue instead of going into voting. I don’t think I’ve seen one do that before. It’s been awhile since I used an upgrade, but they usually just pop right into voting.
Hello,
This isn’t a bug, so it will probably be moved into General Discussion
Upgrades do not influence how fast the nomination goes into voting.
An upgrade sends your submission to a wider pool of reviewers to review so a decision is made faster.
If you have any more questions, don’t hestitate to ask🤗
I’m aware of all that, it’s just in the past any time I’ve upgraded anything it immediately went into voting. That’s definitely a good graphic though.
That’s surprising, as community observations have consistently been that upgrading a nomination has no impact on how quickly it goes from In Queue to In Voting, but does speed the process up once it has gone into voting by opening it up to a wider pool of reviewers.
This is not something I have ever observed. Should just be quicker once it goes in to voting.
I dunno, I guess I’ve always been lucky with that. However, since they fixed a bunch of stuff awhile back things have gone through fast enough that I haven’t bothered with upgrading anything for something like a year or more. However, at this location a whole lot of eligible things have been erected and I got to nominate 30 things so it seems like that group of cells have slowed down enough that an upgrade seemed like it might help speed things along a little bit. But if it’s not I guess I should just be patient instead.
If these are close by it has been observed that one will go to vote whilst the “close” others will remain in queue until the 1st gets a decision.
I have 40 upgrades unused, for a similar reason.
When a local area has multiple submissions, only one can be in voting at a time, to avoid duplicate submissions being in voting together. This may be why those 30 things are taking longer to go through voting and why upgrading didn’t help.
Yeah, out here we usually don’t have a big group of things go up at once close together so we don’t normally have a lot of gridlock since they fixed stuff. There was a time when I had around 500 things in queue before they added upgrades and increased the review range; so I guess I’ve grown a bit spoiled since all that.
A lot of folks did not believe us about the 1-7 day grace period before a nomination will go into voting on the Wayfarer Discussion Discord because they had never experienced it either. I do believe you that it has never happened before to you. With the combined observations of thousands of members, they were able to make this observation.
We recommend not applying an upgrade before something is at least 24 hours old anyway. If the ML model rejects it, or if it gets selected for internal Niantic review, the upgrade will have been wasted, since it only affects community review. Many high volume submitters believe that applying an upgrade too early before it is out of its grace period will actually delay it going into voting. I don’t know about that, but we have seen several posts on the forum about nominations submitted at the same time as the upgraded one being accepted first.
I didn’t know the grace period could be that long. I guess, again, that I’ve just been lucky to only have them usually be a day. Any other time it was any longer I just attributed it to someone else maybe nominating something nearby.
I’ve never managed that many in queue at a time. That’s quite something.
Locally, I find that if I drop 50 nominations into the queue (I tend to release in batches), they all go through within a week, even the ones close together.
Moving to general discussion area
The system was broken out here for a very long time, so I was nominating stuff for a very long time without ever really seeing any get through. But I knew that they’d eventually fix that. Once they did and added upgrades it took a long time for that queue to clear but I was getting between 1-5 resolutions a day for months. It was bonkers! I kinda miss that.
