Hi @elisa7joy
Welcome to the forum
I know exactly how you feel because that have been my thoughts too.
Being part of the wayfarer program do mean that you’re now allowed to:
add new wayspots
review others wayspot nominations
We call it “wayspots” because wayfaring is game agnostic and so we’re away from “pokestops/gyms”.
Wayspots you see ingame aren’t a good leader for what is eligible for wayspots.
So a good start would be to read throuw the helpcenter and especially the criteria clarifications.
And than do some reviews to get a feeling for how this rules work in nominations.
AND don’t forget to use this forum for questions, reading or simply exchange with other wayfinders.
So excited to be part of Wayfarer - our little city has so many special places to see and visit that still need to be included in the game so I’m hoping to help that along a little bit. Submitted my first PokéStop submission last night so we’ll see how that goes!
When objects have a very specific location, such as fitness equipment, picnic shelters, then you don’t have much choice where to put the pin, so the cells (proximity rules for Pogo) don’t really matter. if it doesn’t become a pokestop, it may become a powerstop.
When objects have a choice of location, such as a playground set, then knowing the cells can make a difference if you want a pokestop rather than a powerstop (or the other way round!), as you can choose where to put the pin when nominatingand there is a legitimate choice of positions.
What you can’t do is try to move things after they are accepted in order to make them appear as a pokestop, if they are already in a good location and you are just moving them to a just-as-good location. People do that when they know about the cells and the proximity rules and are trying to tweak the gameboard.
Thank you so much for all of this info and support!!!
i do know about the cells .. funny enough i’m a land use planner and while not a surveyor, I have to work with GIS daily and it seems that survey grids and the “cell” system aren’t too dissimilar?? either way, conceptually I totally understand how the cells are individual and are also part of the larger grid system; i just still need to familiarize myself more with the entire pokestop (Pols?) creation process and logisticals I work so much that the learning process will have to be a little slower than i’d like but i’m not going anywhere and hopefully neither is the game so plenty of time for learning!! Thanks again!!
Hi @PenutChinen
