Both the L14 (Larger Cells) in this area have the maximum 3 Gyms due to having 20+ Occupied L17 (Smaller Cells).
Everything seems to be working as expected.

With the following map I have removed the (Dynamax) Powerspots and the āNot In Gameā so you only seeā¦
Blue Circles = Pokestops
Red Circles = Gyms (I have added arrows to highlight).
The 2 Cells (Red Lines) are the Larger L14 cells.
As I have had to zoom out the smaller L17 cells are not displayed but there is a grid of 8x8 (64) of these in each L14.
Only 1 wayspot in each L17 will become a Pokestop or Gym.
The amount of occupied L17s in each L14 will determine how many will be a Gym.
Hope this helps.
In this area there were a pokestop and 3 waypoints but now they are gone
There are several āNot Used In Gameā in this area (White Circles) which is correct as they are in occupied L17 cells.
In the past there was a way to get more than 1 to show in each cell by nefarious means but this āshouldā no longer happen and if it comes to the attention of staff they will āre-Syncā the map.
The only current way this āshouldā happen is with āSponsoredā wayspots (where companies pay to have spots) which donāt follow the same rules.
The map looks like it is now working correctly, any additional stops / gyms should not have been there and it seems this has been fixed.
Just another thought as you said āa pokestopā. Is it possible the 1 that was showing as a stop was removed āNo longer there, On School Propertyā etc, if so when removed 1 of the āNot Used In Gameā will have taken itās place.
There hasent showed up any new pokestops and the ones not in game is also gone, it might haven been removed for the reason you are saying but why is the hole celled cleared of everything? Shouldent one of the others outside of the school become a new stop?
On your picture its the whiter cell down in the Middle
Hi, i was wondering or anyone knows what a reason a cell is conpletly cleared of pokestop and waypoints? I had one in my area also 1-2 dynamaxstops, but now they are all gone, and cant be showed on the nianticmap either.
It is hard to address this generally, but if the locations were deemed to go against Wayfarer criteria, they could have been reported and removed. Or the property owner could have made a request to Niantic to have them removed. Would you like to give a specific location? GPS coordinates are easiest to work with.
I assume this is the same problem as discussed in the other threadā¦

I suggest sticking to 1 thread to keep it all in 1 placeā¦
I have merged this into the main topic.
Yes it was in number one, 1 pokestop, 2 power (dynamax) and 1 not in game, they are all gone for some reason
I do wonder though, in the town I live in, there are multiple L17 cells with more than 1 pokestop. We even have an L17 cell with 3 gyms in it. If I understand it all correctly, it shouldnāt be possible to have more than 1 stop in an L17 cell, yet.. the contrary seems to be true. Also, we have 5 gyms in 1 L14 cell..
Welcome. There are multiple scenario:
There does seem to be the occasional instances where it doesnāt work as expected.
Local park has 4 wayspots, 1 (exercise equipment - definitely not Sponsored) had been misplaced likely for empty cell. I moved it (June 2025 - so past issue did not exist). Still 2 in the same cell to this day ![]()
Is there a max amount of stops per L14 cell? I just got a new waypoint approved, in an empty L17 cell, but yet it wonāt become a stop. For the record, itās this one: 59.395978, 15.837326
I donāt pretend to understand everything that can happen with Nianticās algorithms (that they donāt even acknowledge). I would assume the issue with this one is either that there hasnāt been a sync since it was approved (daily sync is expected to happen in about a hour or so) or it may have something to do with whatever forced two pokestops into a cell adjacent to it. The blue circles indicate pokestops.
