I am so frustrated. There is no reason this should have been rejected. All it said was “various reasons.”
Welcome @DocCourtney
If I understand your supporting information, this is a new structure for watching wildlife. Does it show up on google satellite maps? If not you may want to shift some information to your description so you can help reviewers understand what to look for in your support statement.
You may need to clarify that Taylor Park Farm is in fact a new park that has been built on the site of historic Taylor Farm and is no longer a farming property. This link should help - https://columbusunderground.com/new-albany-hosts-grand-opening-for-taylor-farm-park-phase-one-ca1/. The nominated structure does not appear to be your “traditional” looking bird hide / viewing platform and appears to be more like a shelter located on a boardwalk trail. When you resubmit this nomination (and you definitely should), may I suggest the following Supporting Information “ Nomination is a recently constructed viewing platform and boardwalk shelter that overlooks wetlands located within a major tourist attraction (Taylor Park). Taylor Park is a new park built on the site of historic Taylor Farm and therefore is no longer part of a working farm. For further information, please refer - link ****. Nomination is publicly accessible with safe easy pedestrian access evident. Nomination promotes socialising, physical activity, health and exercise amongst the community. A great place to explore and socialise with family, friends and strangers alike. Website - *****”. Good luck
That rejection reason can pop up as a bug when it actually should have been rejected as a duplicate.
With which game have you checked whether this is already online?
Ingress doesn’t display database entries that are not portals in that game and Pokémon GO only dies when you open the location select screen while being nearby to the location.
It can be at the most extreme, that the bird watching place is already in the database, but can not be included to the games due to their own inclusion rules, and therefore is a duplicate still, but was invisible to you
It’s not a duplicate. The park is brand new. So, the new structure does not yet appear in Google maps.
If someone submitted it with the beta Wayfarer app before you submitted in game like we are supposed to, it could exist and you would not be able to see it - and if that happened, it will most likely never show in the games. You can check for hidden wayspots with the toggle in the nomination map screen. Definitely check for that while on site before submitting again.
As well as the bird watching hide, there is a lot of bridge /boardwalk. Is it anywhere near the stops that are the Bridges? Coukd someone have thought this is related to the bridge that is in the game?
Assuming there are no existing Wayspots there, you need to really prove your nomination with links as suggested here: WaySport declined for no reason - #3 by HinduLoveGods
Leave the word “new” out of your description, but use it in the supporting. And if there is anything that DOES exist already on Maps that you can include in the supporting photo while still including the structure, be sure to get that in the picture and point it out to reviewers in the supporting statement. My guess is that people were not convinced this could exist where they saw it pinned on Google Maps.
I don’t seem to have a toggle on the map to view hidden spots. Nothing in this part of the park, including the bridges, is a pokestop yet.
The toggle is in the nomination map screen if you are using English which I assumed but should not have. You have to be on site and start a submission to see it. That was basically just to rule out what Kawin had suggested. I agree it is highly unlikely that there are already Wayspots there.
When you are nominating a new Pokestop, you need to wait for the first screen - Set Location - to fully load. Once loaded, this screen will show any wayspot that already exists at your pinned location but does not appear in Pokémon Go (but may appear in other Niantic games). Not waiting for this screen to fully load has been the cause of many a duplicate submission. Having said that, if your nomination was declined for being a duplicate then the email from Niantic would have stated this.
Yes, those are all visible!
Is there a lake underneath the hut where the bridges connect, why I ask is if it was me I would stand in the middle of that grass adjacent to the watching platform so your closer to that spot when you do your nomination or enable location mode on your photos app to capture the correct address then submit it that way.
Looking at it from the angle of your photo it looks like it’s taking quite some distance away and if approved will most likely have the pin where you took the photo.
Also back up your nomination by uploading a short video to Google maps using the streetview app or similar slowing showing the area where where this new item has been built this should then allow viewers to pick up on it.
As if there’s no evidence around that it exists then is most likely going to be declined.
I also agree with @HinduLoveGods that it should definitely be included as it’s beautiful and not a cheap project, the only issue is most of us may not be in your local area or close by to give our input on the submission otherwise it most likely would have been approved.
Don’t feel disheartened, take in what everyone has said and I’m sure you’ll succeed.
My first ever submission is still waiting to be approved yet more recent ones have been accepted within the criteria within a week but this is all dependant on active reviewers & Niantic staff availability though just ask @elijustrying (soz just had to do this) she told me I could wait anything up to a year For Approval.
Is it your birthday today? @DocCourtney
Hi all, thank you for everyone’s help. I just learned this morning that my appeal was approved. I’m so excited! My birthday is next week. Early birthday gift.
The bridges are over a wetland that is only actually wet about 2 months a year. However, since it’s a nature preserve they put in the bridges. It’s a lovely place.
Great news
Looks really good on the photo disk too
Oooh it does, that looks awesome!!
Im so glad it got accepted
