Wayspot Criteria

Hi,
I submited this wayspot that in my opinion matches every elegible criteria.
This is a small library, located inside our local shopping mall. This is a project founded by our university in partnership with our city hall. Has been there since november 2022 and the main focus is to invite people to either share their books, grab a new book or just gather and share some thoughts about whatever they are currently reading. All for free.
Now, this is a public space. It’s a small library and also has a small sitting area in case you decide to read your book on the spot. Has been rejected for the following reasons:

  • Temporary Object
  • Private Property

I have provided some aditional info regarding this project with a staff member and the answer i got was that this was indeed an invalid submission.
My point is, am i misinterpretating the guidelines and my thought process is wrong about this?
Thanks in advance!!

Frankly it looks like something u can lift and carry(temporary). It barely have books as well. While library fit wayfarer criteria, imho this one doesnt really strike as library. Why do u hang it like that? It will damage the book, not to mention it might fall. Why not make it like little free library with more books.

Hello TjoeMi. Thanks for the input! While i might agree that it does feel strange to hang the books like that, the name thats written on the billboard on the side is “Roop of books”. Also on each of the stand sides theres a reference saying "UBI Library, being UBI our university name.. Whoever created it thinks this is a different, and in my honest opinion is, concept of a library. Having a lot of books or not, or the way they are displayed should not have impact, as i can for example state that many water fountains that i come across while reviewing, that end up being accepted, don’t have actually water running

This looks temporary and easily removeable to me in that photo. Do you have any evidence that this is permanently stationed here from the mall or the city? I might accept it with proof linked in the supporting section.

I agree that small book collection like little free library still considered library. But in my opinion you need extra work to proof whats special about this.how do you convince reviewer that this one is not just mall decoration. How does this library work? Does people allowed to take those books freely? I mean there is only 4 books and 3 folded paper now.

Hello cyndie! There is a page in our univesity website talking about it and its also written in the billboard. Do you reckon then its easier if i submit with a photo from bilboard itself that explains how this works then my actual photo?

Yup thats exactly how it works! You can take any book you want freely and take it home or read it there!! You can also leave your own book so other ppl can experience it! Its all about the community share their passion for books

I wouldn’t use a photo of the billboard as the main, but I might use that billboard for the supporting photo if I did not think I needed to prove location with the supporting photo, or as part of a collage photo if not.

I rarely suggest a collage because I usually prefer a larger photo as a reviewer, but I am sure others here can help you with that if you need it.

I would include that link in the supporting section.
