Wayspot Description Abuse

  • Additional Information (if any): I have attempted to edit this wayspot to clear the made up information. The information in this description is completely fake. Ironically this is a Community Ambassador whom is making poor wayspots on purpose. The description writes that his intimate partner is the founder of this swim club. This is all false. The club is several decades old, not formed in 2012 and not by Hilary Ungaro. The community ambassador now hosts wayspot creating events to teach the community on how to manipulate the wayfarer system. This is abuse of leadership. This is the 20th or more ambassador wayspot I have had to report to wayfarer because this trainer is continuously making bad waysport and the the wayfarer folks of the community need to fix his messes he leaves behind. I am posting this in the public forum so the community can see. Wayspot descriptions are supposed to be accurate per T&C of wayfarer. Community Ambassadors are to be pillars of the community and obey and live through Niantic rules.

Here is his campfire post about offering Wayfarer lessons. This ambassador is educating the community on how to churn out low quality wayspots. How is this trainer allowed to be a community ambassador and produce false pokestops?

This swim club is not open to the public either it is behind a gate and requires a $1500.00 annual membership fee to enter.

I am asking the wayfarer team to edit this description and make it blank because it is currently 100% false info. I ahve attempted to edit this wayspot and each time its been declined. This is why I am asking the Wayfarer community to put an end to this abuse.

Hi @716OfficerJenny
I’m sorry to hear that your game experience is like that
Reporting abuse is possible over the link on the top of this forum

Whilst I fully agree that this abuse needs sorting and I hope the correct action is taken, I do want to quickly clear something up for you.

That would not exclude the swim club from being eligible as a great place to exercise. Things located behind paywalls and/or in gated areas can be OK.

Thank you for the clarification.

A lot of people hold Wayfarer groups, including @seaprincesshnb off the top of my head. Teaching people about how to do this correctly and well is great.

I tried to look up the history of Hickory Hills Swim Club in Orchard Park to help the team sort this with evidence. But all I can find is that it is 50 years old, not who actually founded it. I also don’t get any hits on the name mentioned there as spelled. So I personally don’t see how the team can take any action without some evidence.

Have you tried the Reporting Abuse form at the top of the forum here to start an email conversation? I would go that route with an accusation like this rather than a public forum.

I do understand that this kind of thing does happen, and I have done help chat reports for edits inserting trainer names. And Niantic does take action on this kind of abuse when there is evidence.

Hey,

These are some serious allegations and we are committed to getting to the bottom of it.

Will it be possible for you to create a report through abuse reporting webform or help chat with all the information you have. We may need additional information and a public forum may not be the best place to be able to do that.

Was this case closed? I received a email from Ashley saying the ticket was closed despite wayfarer telling me to remain patient while they investigate.

Hi, I’ve checked on your ticket, and it’s still open. Please ignore the automated message. Our team will reach out to you as soon as possible. If you need anything, feel free to tag me here.
