Title: Wayspot Submission for Little Free Library

Rejection reason: This submission was declined by Niantic’s automated process for not adhering to Wayfarer criteria

Description: A sidewalk accessible stop to trade books for the community. One of the oldest in the neighborhood, established pre-COVID, it has been in active use since.

Supplemental: Trainers can stop to swap a book at this publicly accessible Little Free Library, and all the neighbors are friendly. There is also an art object made of patina copper in the shape of an arrow stuck in the ground nearby.

Location: Near the intersection of Brotherton and Shenstone in Eugene, OR. USA.

This is a resubmit with improved photos. The first submission was denied by automated for being inside private property. I appealed and someone confirmed, admittedly the first pictures were not very good.

The item is abutting the public sidewalk and only a few feet from a high traffic area where the public mailbox sits. What’s wrong here? Very confused.

Welcome to the forums.

As a general principle, the photo is from too far away and the ML system might have struggled to identify this as a LFL.

However, the rejection is correct.

Being accessible from public sidewalk is not sufficient or relevant. It is the actual location of the POI that matters. Since it is on SFPRP (single-family private residential property), it is strictly not eligible.

As explained, that exists in someone’s lawn. The applicable clarifications on these issues can be found here.

Is the fact that the public mailbox makes this a dedicated public or social place not relevant? I struggle to see how folks in rural areas can have POIs.

I don’t know what you mean by public mailbox. This is on SFPRP.

SFPRP is categorically not eligible

This LFL is not in a rural area, but suburban. US suburbs can be hard to find interesting things to be wayspots because it can be difficult to find anything interesting.

Niantic is testing experimental pokestops for areas like this:

I found this similar looking LFL near you, so I understand your confusion. But the placement in the strip between the sidewalk and the street is key here, as Niantic will usually consider those locations public.

You might try to submit some more Pokestops at the Oregon Horse Center. I only see one Pokestop there for a restaurant. I would think the Center itself and the Rodeo Grounds could be eligible.
