Hi! I has a Wayspot removal report rejected by Niantic even though the playground itself has now gone. This was a climbing frame situated on the beach of Playa de Las Gaviotas and it was there for a while, but it has now been removed along this beach (and was removed fairly recently). It was situated near the mosaic fountain. Sadly there is no street view at this location but I have three photos to show the surrounding area, so hopefully this is substantial evidence for my appeal (one of these was included in my initial report):
The Wayspot name is Parque Infantil en Playa Gaviotas and is situated around 36.354055, -5.231146. Note that the Mosaic fountain is also a hidden Wayspot at this location and that still exists.
You need gps tagged photo to prove this . Put your self in wayfarer team 's shoes. How do you ensure that this removal report is correct and not a false one. Wayfarer have case where people report portal removal simply because he/she cant reach it
Is it possible to take photo from same angle as wayspot photo? Although i understand that low/high tide might mess up that land in the background
Ah I had no idea the photos had to be tagged! I copied them from my phone onto my PC which is why they may not be there! Thank you for letting me know about that. I have attached GPS tagged photos!
I’ve also added the supporting photo below which shows the background as it was back in the day (the last photo) as it was actually me who nominated this back in the day! However it is not GPS tagged.
If you download the app “GPS Camera App” this will add the GPS data and show it on the actual photo.
Often uploading the photos will remove the exif data so GPS data is removed.
As stated above I would also try for an angle similar to the original. All yours run along the walkway where the original is looking out towards the sea.
So I’ve been over again today and managed to get another photo out to sea. Hopefully the wall pattern and floor pattern as well as the rocks behind the beach should verify the location with the supporting photos posted earlier. Thanks for all the help everyone, usually I’m quite detailed for my nominations which has resulted in success but not done may reports so good to know this for the future
That is not the same location as the original wayspot image that you posted earlier. Superficially it appears the same, but key details have changed (I don’t mean the planter or the blue pathway, but things that will be static.)
In order to prove an object has been removed, you need to take an image of the same location.
Ahhh damnit you’re right! I’ve picked the wrong entrance (There’s 2 and they’re virtually right next to each other!) and I must have got confused cause of that. And annoyingly I’m going back to the to UK tomorrow so probably won’t be back there now unless I run down later and sort it, otherwise I’ll have to take one in September.
I have however timestamped one of the photos and found another photo from 2022 which includes the former playground (but there’s no timestamp on this photo). If we end up going back down later I’ll grab the shot from the other location, though the little gap should be able to be seen on those two photos. If I end up going back later then I will post the photo with the sea view at that location.
I’m assuming timestamps are allowed on supporting photos too? May help me get wayspots accepted that way instead of saying surrounding area should prove validity etc.
Managed to run down and get some at the correct location now, and are location stamped, so hopefully this is now sufficient evidence for the portal to be removed. Thank you all for the help and feedback and sorry for my silly mistake earlier!
