Hello, i’ve reported this Pokestop as a private residential property a week ago and it got declined. I have a problem with it being a pokestop because it doesn’t seem fair that some apartment buildings get to be pokestops and some don’t, besides, this apartment building has a small playground 50 meters away from it which already is a pokestop (see image)

Was the rejection a mistake or do you consider it a fair entry?

it is a correct rejection by niantic, as the building is accesible to more than a family or two. Just add the playground, and be happy with what you have

This clarification may help you:

Hello, thanks for the info. This will help me better understand what qualifies as a pokestop in the future.

This Pokestop, however, is the building itself, not something of interest around it , inside it or upon it.

Its difficult to read the description but I can see the word architect so presumably this was put forward on the basis of it being Architecturally significant. And that makes it potentially eligible and has presumably been accepted on that basis.

Hello, this is the description

Built in 2022 and designed by the famous architect Sorin Scripcariu, it is the tallest building in Clui-Napoca and the 8th tallest building in the country. It is almost 100 meters high, with 25 floors.

So … a place like New York or Dubai is full of building pokestops because they all look different?

And yes, i would too say that for this city this is architecturally significant, just wished it wasnt an apartment building as well but an office building or a shopping center and architecturally significant. But then there are malls in the city and these are even more architecturally significant but they arent pokestops… so why would an architecturally significant apartment building be? (edited because i dont know for sure)

Maybe because no one has submitted them as such? You have a great example there of how to do an architecture nomination if you are inclined to do the research.

I am curious as to why the use that a building is being put to should be of any relevance? It is the building and its structure that are critical and from the description it is significant.

If there are interesting designs in Malls etc then they could be acceptable. Large shopping centres often contain within them social spaces, and can be a destination location that someone would want to explore.

because people dont live in office buildings, they have to go to these buildings, its not very fair to sit directly on top of a gym just because you have more money.

but if thats a valid pokestop :man_shrugging: so be it

Shall I move this topic out of the appeals section?

There are lots of instances where people end up living with easy access to something in the game of their choice…I am not one of those as I need to get out and walk. Its just the way things happen sometimes. Wayfarer is based on real world objects and locations so can be very random.
There is a saying that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. It is best not focus on what you havent got access to, focus on what you do have and as a wayfinder what other things you can find and submit.
