Weekend Positivity: Waypoints of Pride

I found this pretty cool mural inside our newly-opened Paris Baguette. While the company is an international chain, they took the time to create a mural full of local landmarks to be included inside the dining area. It’s a pretty cool piece to see in person.

Took too long to decide a favorite nomination recently.

Tower of Archbishop Thai Vui Thanh

Took me quite some times to have a good image showing the most detail about the tower(the 6 side art, the 3 Story), and research about the history of the said person.

The tower was built in memory of Archbishop (a high-ranking dignitary in the Cao Dai religious structure) Thai Vui Thanh, born on February 23, 1883. He was a famous Archbishop in Dong Nai. He once served as the head of the medical department at the Di An railway workshop, became a Professor (Giáo sư) in 1940, an Archbishop (Phối sư) in 1943, and founded the Bien Hoa Tan Hanh Temple (Thánh Thất Biên Hòa Tân Hạnh).

Extra information: this is the frontside of the statue, writiing his achivement in life.

I love a good mural or other nice painting inside a chain. Raising Cane’s (American chicken tender chain, mildly overrated) actually has a corporate artist who’s a member of the Portrait Society of America, so I felt really good nominating this feature of my local Cane’s:

What was the category here? It looks as wee bit like a place I have had turned down. I wonder whether I didn’t choose the best category.

Do you mean in review? You can also ignore the categories altogether if you prefer, they don’t play any role at all for the eligibility of the nomination and are likely not required for its acceptance.

It was Hiking Trail and Trail Marker I believe. I submit ones at the start of trails or for great features on them. Even if it meets criteria it’s possible they get rejected anyway. Hope you can get a cool spot added :+1:

Weekend might be over, but I am still proud of this one  No idea how it wasn’t a wayspot yet

  1. Please keep sharing cool waypoints, positivity has no expiration date.
  2. That’s absolutely gorgeous and I’d be delighted to get a gift from that mural.

This would be one of my favourites: hidden at the edge of what is now a wood, is this monument on Carberry Hill, East Lothian, Scotland. It commemorated what was Mary Stuart’s last day as reigning Queen of Scots, and the day she surrendered herself to the confederate Lords (who had rebelled believing her to be complicit in the death of her husband Lord Darley, father of the infant soon-to-be King James VI).
He would go on to become James I of England and Ireland, survive an attempted bombing and authorise a version of the Bible which Americans seem very keen on.
It took a wee bit of detective work to locate it, so I feel rather fond of it.

Yeah, waiting for the tree to match the tomatoes was absolutely the move. I’d be delighted getting a gift from this

Also, welcome back to the forums, it says you’ve been away for a bit.

This is a nomination that I find moving.

The other discussion about benches reminded me about it.

The bench is very ordinary but the dedication is special

I’ve opted for the full picture so the dedication text can be read.

I’m a big softie and I found the words to be very moving. Rudy clearly meant a lot to the community and friends. And the lifeguards have always made me feel safe here and it’s a great job they do responsible payment is not great but you get to have all summer at the beach. And in this case clearly a life cut short.

Then you sit down and appreciate the place that Rudy looked after

I’m glad I found it and that this does fit the criteria…….

The mobile signal is a whole other question.

What a beautiful nomination and a stunning spot

You know what, it’s a weekend again. I can drop one of my newest submissions here:

One of the joys of living in a cultural melting pot is that I can submit the Romanian community center and church one week, the Bulgarians the next week…this week, it’s the Greek American Restaurant Association. It’s just neat to find waypoints representing all sorts of different cultures around me.

I guess I can join in the conversation. Really liked all the other wayspots that are posted here.

Now I have mine:

It is a somewhat older submission, but fortunately it just popped up as a powerspot so thought it be relevant:

The official artwork was supported by the goverment and professional artist were hired for it. I love how it turned out, and that I had the honor to submit is first and get it accepted.

Have a great week everyone!:hugs:

You know, with the discussion of benches going on elseforum, I wanted to show off the ugliest, least comfortable bench I’ve ever submitted. I love it, it’s hideous.
