Weekend Positivity: Waypoints of Pride

I had a bit of a tear at this. Been away for a while. I do a bit sea/beach marine rescue stuff and with many friends who do the same. You read this and go. There but for grace - go we.

This is exactly the type of place I would stop and look back. Watch a sunrise / a sunset / stop to take deep breathe and smile.

I would appreciate a postcard from here. Thank you for sharing.

PS. I can see the rip in that photo of the sea.

So some of my own positivity. I hope.

Was at a place called Middle Harbour doing some training. Sun just rising. And I got this photo of the park sign. I confess. I am not a fan of such signs. But I hope I caught something here with the beach, harbour, sunrise and reflection in the sign.

I hope it gives a normal park sign a bit more character. Happy weekend all.

As my Wayspot #1100, I got a historic villa accepted, which nowadays is used as the regional German-French institue!

This was my third approved (I have 25 now). It’s literally a shed (made into a shrine) on the edge of the back parking lot at my (Southern California area) Catholic church… occupied by a Mexican flag and statuary depicting the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe. My family jokingly calls it “the she shed”.

I’ve shown off some of my local Marys. I love a good shrine or statue for her. I updated the photo of the shrine at a local church; they’d built it up quite a bit since it was put up:

Meanwhile, I just realized I never shared the results of my Milwaukee trip with the forums. I was in Milwaukee in and near the Baird Center (where the Pokemon Regional Championship is held in October), and did a total of 12 noms in the city; 9 were accepted, one duplicate, 2 rejections. Highlight reel:

There was 1 open cell at the Milwaukee Public Museum, and I had to fill it! I learned later in the trip that in about a year, the Museum is moving buildings, though, so this will not be truly permanent. But I’d have kicked myself if I left that cell open when I left.

Ballrooms are something I really enjoy nominating, because I know they’ll be filled for SO MANY PURPOSES over time. I upgraded this one so it was actually in play before the rave at the convention I was in town for:

And a sample of some of the amazing art that’s in Milwaukee, around the Hilton hotel and Baird center:

Some recent(ish) wayspots I’m proud of

View point at the world’s only salina in a volcanic crater

And the 3km long hiking trail around said crater

Very well hidden statue by a well-known local artist in the garden of the regional council

Which led me down a rabbit hole so I ended up submitting the museum & sculpture garden of said artist

Probably one of my favourites as I hadn’t a clue what is was, except we used to call it the hobbits house.

After some research and finding a load of sites about historical buildings and structures around the area I learned the history of it and that it was the door of a Dovecote which were popular up to about the 1900’s here and were used to house and breed Pigeons & Doves.

That is somewhere I would love to visit. Sounds cool. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
