What a joke

Hello and welcome,

7-Eleven and McDonald’s are both generic businesses, as they are chains and can be found quite easily. There is clarification on generic businesses here:

I’d also recommend reviewing Wayspot criteria, so you better understand what may be accepted:

As others have noted, some large businesses have sponsored Wayspot deals with Niantic, which means they pay Niantic a certain amount to have Wayspots at their locations. As Wayfarers, we have no control over which locations have or don’t have Wayspots.

One of the best examples of the sponsored Wayspots are at some Starbucks locations in the US. In December 2016, Starbucks had a sponsorship with PoGo to have stops/gyms at some of their locations, as well as feature a special drink. While the drink promotion has ended, the stops are still up in PoGo, but no new ones are being added by Starbucks or PoGo. Most likely Starbucks, PoGo, and Niantic would have to work out a new sponsorship deal to add new Wayspots; same goes for 7-Eleven and McDonald’s, who have also had sponsored Wayspots in the past in different countries.

The exception to this right now are Power Spots in PoGo, as most are being imported from third party sources, with some coming from unused Wayspots. This is also something Wayfarers do not have control over currently.
