I had figured out a way but with eMiLy down it wonāt work anymore.
We had a small get together at the Seattle anomoly, @scrawnymeowth1, myself @NvlblNm and a few others.
Huh, thereās a group of troublemakersā¦
Will there be toffee and caramal slices as well @elijustrying
Enough with it.
What is repurposing?
What is an anomoly?
Both in relation to this thread. Not Dr Who, a space time continium, re using household goodsā¦ etc etc. Just in case anyone gets any ideas
An Anomaly is a large scale Ingress event. Thereās generally between 4-6 per quarter which happen at certain cities (told in advance like in this post - January - March 2025 Schedule: +Alpha ā Ingress) where you attend with others in your faction and try to complete the objectives. Involves lots of teamwork and itās a lot of fun.
One to add to the list to do for 2025.
Thank you
Do you get repurposed at an anomoly?
Chewing teeth here
Are you trying to repurpose my fudge into caramel or toffee?
That wonāt happen.
Repurposing is when you start with a Wayspot which was agreed because of one reason and you are changing it to something different eg it was a church but the church has gone and it is now a cafe.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. We have a keen eye on this thread. While I cannot promise that all your suggestions will be implemented, I assure you that they will definitely be brought up to the team for their consideration. So, keep them coming
Happy Exploring!!
You heard it here firstly. All the suggestions will be implemented. (joking but couldnāt resist the small edit)
A general map for all Wayspots in the system via a web browser/app/ingame (Like the old wayfarer App/Website). It could lead to more accurate management of the map if we could do it on a web browser. I feel like especially the editing process would be much more fun, accurate, and efficient when working on a desktop.
Random worldwide reviewing (with a toggle on/off like Niantic-Challenge).
Show the player nickname in all games, not just the game you are submitting in. (Example: Submitted Wayspots from Ingress donāt show the name in PokĆ©mon GO.) It would be lovely to get credit in all games.
Clarification for all the reviews weāve done that go into āNIA Voting,ā whether those agreements are buried or not.
Edit agreements displayed on the profile page, along with upgrades earned through challenges, compensations, etc., for more accurate stats of Wayfinders, as itās currently not accurate.
Possibility to open multiple āHelp Chatā tickets, so I can stay on one website.
I appreciate your efforts to improve Wayfarer and hope that one of these ideas can be implemented.
On the flip side of this, Iād like the option to be able to hide my name in Ingress. PokĆ©mon GO players donāt have to have their name show on the Wayspots they get approved but thereās no option currently to turn it off for Ingress.
I would like to see more local submissions being reviewed by local people. I feel that people not from the area are trying to determine how locals to an area can play the game. If you are over 100 miles away from your two designated locations you should not be reviewing.
I actually miss the wayfarer test but not the way it was made. Everyone should read the criteria before submitting. I was talking with someone from my community a few days ago, he had already a few wayspots approved but had no ideia that a hairstylist saloon was usually a generic business. He never look it up and this year import here in Brazil just left everything a mess. Yes I already passed this information to the wayfarer team. Itās just chaotic and frustrating having the same conversation with the community.
How do you plan to get more locals involved in reviewing?
Hi there! On a personal note (Iām a United States person) I have experience where footbridges are often (NOT ALWAYS) used as a focal point on a trail where you might actually meet up with people, stop while biking for a quick drink, or where kids will play under. Since bridges are usually over something, the clearing makes them a place people would actively engage with to take photos of over a clearing (if a wooded area) or might jump off of into a stream or river.
On another note, there was an old deleted Ingress AMA that explicitly stated āā¦wooden footbridges on a trail are eligibleā and that was a very unhelpful statement as it lead to some people nominating every parking lot culvert and others rejecting every bridge adjacent structure not explicitly wooden and not explicitly on a named trail. Later, an AMA was published for Wayfarer specifically (which has since been deleted) that read:
What types of bridges are and arenāt eligible?
In general, think about the specific bridge and whether itās a clear and differentiable location for other players to find. Also, if a location is somehow important to the community, it would also be a good candidate. Our guidance for most locations is whether a location, structure, piece of art, etc. is important for exploration, promotes exercise or facilitates social connections. With regard to bridges generally, if it is accessible by foot and expected to be used as part of a named path or trail, it would meet criteria. Bridges that primarily serve cars and donāt have pedestrian access are not eligible.
I must reiterate that it has been deleted. However, I think the value fits nicely and is all we really need for much of any criteria.
We have to enter address when we sign up. Those can be used. We also have communityās built is campfire that Iām sure could be used to help get the word out. Most people donāt do reviews because a lot of good request get declined because people from other areas are the one reviewing.
I logged in today and got request around the country and only around 3 from my area and I know that people are submitting in my area.
how big do you consider your āareaā?
My thought 100 miles.
