What do you want Wayfarer to bring in 2025? šŸŽ†

Too true @seaprincesshnb ā€¦ South African and Indians call them sleeves and the Brits - Beer Huggersā€¦ maybe that is one for @holdthebeer

Iā€™ll admit I only know what they are because of Bluey.

To build on this Im pretty sure you have to stay above a certain rating for the ā€œagreementsā€ you get to count. So if you are reviewing with speed but no quality you will probably drop below that threshold before you get the medal. Remember reading that a few places around the forums and others discussing not gaining progress while at a poor rating. I cant remember what the rating had to at least be tho.

Have to be in Good or Great for reviews to count for the medal.

I wish something was said about ā€œgrandfatheredā€ items. Thereā€™s some memorial benches from the Ingress beta days that I canā€™t really do anything about 12 years later - places where I have seem other valuable POIs in the area but I donā€™t want to nominate them out of their actual location

I mean the signage for retail plazas is multiple - itā€™s informational AND advertising

  • Moar nominations (or 2 refresh per day would be good)
  • Photo edit refresh to go back to 2 per day please; I am almost out of photo edits, I am so sad :face_holding_back_tears:
  • Dupe check in Ingress nomination screen
  • An easy means to submit edits to POI that do not appear in PGO or ING (maybe even an app!?)

If nominations become available through Peridot, I guess I would have to finally pick that game up. A 5th Niantic gameā€¦ I could do it if it meant moar nominationsā€¦ :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Going to see if in 2025 I can still keep up with nominating an average of 2 things per day. My available nominations havenā€™t refilled back to 40 in either game since mid-2022, gonna see if I can keep it up.

We have several near us along a walking route. Would you consider those relevant as part of that route?

I know this sounds awful but:

Are you encouraged to walk because of those signs / do they in any way direct you for the purpose of walking/exercise? Or do they happen to be on the route that you walk?

In my experience, I can walk around the larger neighborhood in many different ways and these signs donā€™t guide or inspire me.

If they are like my example, then no. Just because you can walk there does not make something a great place TO walk. If they have other significance, I would consider them. Say a tour of Historic Downtown Cary. But just builderā€™s signs, no.

One thing I want for 2025 is to have an official ā€œWayfarer Meet-upā€ at the upcoming GoFest locations.

One meet-up in each of the countries that GoFest is held in.

  1. Either at the GoFest site right after it finishes at the booth, or at a designed location one of the days, ā€œthink restaurant or something similarā€.
  2. There could be a question and answer session with staff and the ambos.
  3. A possible raffle for cups, mugs and various other swag.
  4. Explorers could exchange friend codes and DMā€™s.

Just a thought to help further build community and put names to faces for those who chat here all the time.

@NianticThibs @NianticTintino @NianticAaron - Thoughts? @Glawhantojar and I would be willing to help coordinate the US meet-up if you wanted.

To be fair Iā€™ve never been to GO-Fest. But I have participated in an Ingress Anomalyā€¦ but not at the hub of it.

But Iā€™d like to see what @BlameJamal is suggesting at the big Ingress events too.

This is a really interesting idea. From my personal experience the logistics of making it work in the park would be a struggle. Who knows where GO Fest will be this year, so I can only theorize based on the last couple of places. Seattle would have been possible because it was open and easy to get to (and not insanely hot). But that horrid park from the last couple of years was such a pain to get to and so dang hot.

What Iā€™m getting at, is that Iā€™d like for everyone to meet up just one time so no one misses seeing anyone. I went to 2 meet ups in Seattle that worked. The trivia night in the bar. And there was a PvP tournament at a gaming store. Both worked. I like the idea. I am really curious how many would turn up. I should say, though, that a bar may not be the best idea if we want anyone under 21 to join us. (Wait, am I even going to GO Fest this year?)

I was going to try this at London in 2023 but the weather was really off putting :joy:

Itā€™s great for those that can come to meet at the wayfarer stand. But that is a very small subset of wayfinders.

Maybe a virtual meet-upšŸ¤”

This may sit more with the Ingess app team but it would be great to have a documented process to deal with syncing wayspot imports as portals where applicable. Rather than them being essentially blocked locations forever, further eroding the purpose of having a common database.

I already reached the goal of rejections but thanks anyway :slightly_smiling_face:

I agree 100% :grinning:

Yeah thatā€™s definitely more for the Ingress team to do. Iā€™d encourage you to raise it with the Ingress Player Ambassadors when they are in place (meant to be before end of the year but as we only have a few days left of the year, I would guess itā€™s delayed).

Much like @LetsRollGirl I have been to an XM Anomaly but it was a satellite one, so the Ingress team werenā€™t around.

Would be great to attend one this year and have a Wayfarer booth at the park/location like PokƩmon GO Fest gets every year.

Iā€™m not sure if @BlameJamal has attended an Anomaly or large Ingress event, to suggest what Wayfarer team might do at one.

Maybe the Wayfarer team could have one or two people at the RES/ENL after parties?

Iā€™d like to see a feature where I can see what the results of previous reviews (agreements/not agreements) are so that I can get a better idea whatā€™s being accepted/rejected and why so that I can have some kind of feedback on my reviews. Itā€™s clear to me, especially reading comments here, that I find different things interesting and different places worth exploring than some ā€œhard coreā€ wayfarers.

Iā€™d also like to see on those past reviews whether they were upgraded/appealed - as is very clear to me that upgrading a nomination is the surest way to get it rejected.

This would be very helpful in understanding whatā€™s going on, get better agreements, and on the other side of things, decide what nominations are worth my time, as they take a fair bit of time to research and write up.

I have not been to a large in-person Ingress event. But I think it would be nice in any event to get Wayfarers/Explorers together anything there is an event.
