they have a point though. it is 20 days between, so it refreshes on the 21st day.
Fair pointā¦.its all in maths and how you describe it.
That has been driving me crazy when I try to tell people about the counter. I finally settled on ā20 day counter before you can use it againā.
Of course if there was a proper counter on the webpage ā¦.
Appeal slot 1 will be available on 6th January 2025 ā¦ā¦
Life would be so much easier and nicer.
WDD has a counter but it isnāt on the wayfarer.tools site and I donāt think i am allowed to directly link a script (is that the right word?) here. But @tehstone (i believe) made one.
hmm Iāll see about getting it added to the tools website

Mod edit. Some comments on translation, appeared to be to disrespectful of fellow wayfinders.
You can comment about wanting more appeals as you feel that too many of your nominations are being unjustifiably rejected.
I hope the Global Reviewer Challenge will be held more often.
Wayspotās criteria for rejection of approval criteria are set, but the characteristics of Wayspotās rejection of approval differ from country to country can be seen through the approved Wayspot of the global challenge.
The opinions of the reviewers may differ from country to country, but I hope that the too tight rejection standard will be removed and changed to show some flexibility.
Also, I wish more people could make Wayspot easier.
How do you mean āmake Wayspots easierā? I understand thereās the relevant levels to get to, but once youāve done that, itās not difficult to follow the criteria and get some great Wayspots.
As we had an Edit Submissions Challenge last time, Iām not sure what the next Challenge will be. Whether reviews, edits again or something else.
I think they mean that in some places the reviewers are extremely strict: rejecting a photo that shows part of a parked car in the background or in a reflection, has any life-forms visible anywhere, or lacks a certificate of authenticityā¦
I have a couple feature requests.
- Ability to add more than one supporting image - sometimes I feel as though I canāt get enough of the surroundings or want to triangulate with points of reference that might be on google. You could put them in a simple carousel.
- Allow supporting image to be a photo sphere or street view equivalent - this would be especially helpful for locations that arenāt already on street view but you could still see features from satellite to match up with
- Show restricted area overlays on the map or popup when adding way spot position.
And one maybe controversial view point - get more business partnerships with chain grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Walmart and McDonalds were nice for more rural areas without much in the way of way spots.
I donāt remember seeing Walmart and McDonalds Portals (not serious, I know they were PokĆ©mon GO only ones)
Idk how the ingress folks nominate (I just created an Ingress acct yesterday) but Iād move my location in the pokemon go app a to the most advantageous corner of the POI if I knew it meant it would be in its own cell.
Iām not talking about cheating or moving a few meters from the actual location, just choosing which side of a big POI like a pool or dog park to put the wayspot.
I generally try to put the pin near the āpoint of entranceā of large POI such as swimming pools, dog parks, tennis courts, etc.
For Niantic game players using the game map to help them navigate a place in real-life (like exploring a park they havenāt been to before), it seems like it would be most natural/helpful to put the pin at the āentranceā of the object.
Yess especially in Rural area where there sometimes a misunderstanding of why that particular POI should be approved.
I feel like Niantic gather enough data too actual mark countries a x% Rural and y% non Rural. Especially during the edit and description update challenge
What happens when an area that was rural is suddenly built up?
We have fields and fields in the UK that eventually get sold to developers and then get housing placed on them.
Not too far away from me, thereās a whole new town being built. Before that was mostly fields so would have been āmarkedā as āruralā but will now have lots of POI (yes, I am eyeing it up and keeping tabs to know when I can go and nominate 50+ Wayspots)
You know how many already just use the supporting info box to state how a nomination meets criteria, and they copy/paste the info from the help pages? I see so many āPer criteria, this place is a great place to (insert).ā I really donāt need to be told that a coffee shop is a great place to a social at, or a basketball court is a great place to get some exercise.
I donāt need to be told how itās a great place to be social at/exercise at/explore, I just need to be told some basic info to support the nomination, like how it can be accessed safely, maybe additional info on location, especially if satellite/Street View isnāt the best, if needed a link for further clarification, etc.
If we had tick boxes for the last 3 questions, then that could make them obsolete to ask reviewers, but those need to be asked. Whoever decides on a nomination, whether it be ML, staff, or the community, needs to answer those questions, not the submitter, who needs to provide us with the info as to why it
meets criteria.
Lastly, making the nomination process longer might put off some from actually nominating.
Same where I live currently in the US. What once was farmland is now being developed into new neighborhoods, with new housing, parks, shops, etc, or even new industrial districts, for businesses to operate from.
@Orgelux1558 Also, not all areas of the world may have the same definitions of what is considered rural, suburban, and urban. Just look at how the US and UK governments define rural:
- US Census Bureau: Rural areas are defined as all population, housing, and territory outside of urban areas, including open country and settlements with fewer than 2,500 residents.
- UK Office for National Statistics: The Classification defines areas as rural if they fall outside of settlements with more than 10,000 resident population. For the smallest geography areas, the classification assigns them to one of four urban or six rural categories.
I hope a Wayfarer/Niantic employee reads this giant thread and responds! Something like āhey folks, thanks for all the feedback, weāve passed some of these ideas internally. ty for continuing to make the experience better for nominators, players, reviewers.ā
Hopefully we arenāt just putting our wishes out there to a brick wall that will only be seen by other players/reviewers & never the people who can actually make a difference.
you mean this one? :
Just want to post about this thread. Yeah, I know staff keep an eye on the forums, but feel that others might want to know about the idea.
