Appeal: “プリンス坂頂上のオブジェ群” Location Was Moved Without Notice

Wayspot Title:プリンス坂頂上のオブジェ群

Location (lat/lon):
Originally approved at 35.402857, 139.615287
Moved without my knowledge to 35.402824, 139.615224

City: Yokohama

Country: Japan

Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):
There is no rejection email, as the Wayspot was approved in 2022 and recently removed following an unauthorized location edit that caused a cell conflict.

Additional Information (if any):

This Wayspot, titled 「プリンス坂頂上のオブジェ群」, was approved in February 2022 and had been a well-known and appreciated landmark in the community for over three years. It represents a group of three public art objects located at the top of a slope. The nomination photo clearly shows all three objects.

The pin was originally placed thoughtfully near the lowest object in the photo—not directly on any single one—in order to represent the group as a whole. Placing the pin directly on one specific object was not appropriate, as the nomination was for the entire group, not just one piece.

The center point between the three was avoided because it falls close to a roadway leading into a residential complex, and also because placing the pin there might have caused the Wayspot to not appear properly in the game during the nomination process.

Recently, the location appears to have been moved, but I was not involved in or responsible for the change. This edit resulted in a conflict with another Wayspot in the same Level 17 S2 cell, leading to its removal from the game.

I respectfully request that the Wayspot be restored to its originally approved location: 35.402857, 139.615287, where it properly represented the entire group of objects, as intended from the beginning.

Please note that I am not a native English speaker and also new to the Wayfarer forum. I may not fully understand how everything works yet, so I appreciate your patience and understanding if my responses are delayed or unclear.

Wayspot appeals is when wayspot reported for removed and you want to appeal it. Have you check if that the wayspot is in another cell?

If you try to submit nomination, you can see if the wayspot is still in database or not(marked as red"!")

If its gone, then you are free to appeal for removal
If its there, means the cell have multiple wayspot, you can try to move it using help chat but please be advised that moving wayspot away from its correct location is subject to abuse ladder system. I understand that big art might have multiple position that stil considered “correct”. But personally, I believe the location should be at the object itself, not where you take photo.

If you believe this is incorrect you can ask help chat to move said wayspot . U can see chat bubble at right bottom corner

I understand the frustration of having ur nomination moved somewhere else and it cant be pokestop anymore. But unused wayspot might become power spot. So hopefully players still can have some benefit.

Hi @JuicyJuiceLucy
Welcome to the forum :hugs:
I’ve moved your topic to General Discussion
because as TjoeMi explained Wayspot Appeals is for appealing rejected removal requests or to ask for reinstating removed wayspots.
Yours is sadly only moved. And it is now on the object.

Thank you very much, TjoeMi, for your detailed explanation and insights, and thank you, AliceWonder1511, for kindly moving the post to the appropriate category. I really appreciate your guidance and support as a newcomer to this forum.

Just to clarify one point: the pin was not placed based on where the photo was taken. It was carefully positioned to reflect the nomination’s intent — to represent all three objects as a collective group — while avoiding the center area, which lies near a residential access road and could have caused a cell conflict in-game.

I have confirmed through the Geospatial Browser that the Wayspot still exists in the database. I understand that it may still be usable in some contexts, possibly as what some refer to as a “power spot.” However, I am primarily a Pokémon GO player, and for players like myself, if a Wayspot no longer appears in Pokémon GO due to a cell conflict, it unfortunately loses much of its purpose and value. I believe many other players may feel the same.

Again, thank you both for your time and help.

Just a word of caution. With the change of Wayfarer transferring to Scopely but Ingress and the GSB remaining in Niantic Spatial the information in GSB and from Ingress - Intel and IITC - has ceased to be updated and the 2 sets of data are going to diverge.
Please see this topic Ingress Last Sync - Discussion
I appreciate that it is frustrating that this move of the pin position removes a pokestop, but unfortunately that is the way things are and it is best to simply accept it. Perhaps there is something else in that cell you could nominate.

Thank you, @Elijustrying, for the clarification and for your kind explanation.

I’ve confirmed in the Pokémon GO app that the Wayspot still exists, and I understand that there’s currently a data discrepancy due to the Wayfarer system transitioning to Scopely, while the Geospatial Browser (GSB) remains under Niantic Spatial. I appreciate the heads-up on this point.

That said, I still believe the original placement of the pin was made thoughtfully, based on the reasons I previously explained. It’s unfortunate that a unilateral change removed it from Pokémon GO, as I primarily play that game.

I’ll keep the advice in mind and look for other candidates in the cell as well.

Thanks again for your insight.

Any player is allowed to submit a location amendment, not just the person who created the wayspot. No-one owns a wayspot and amendments don’t need authorisation from the person who created it.

In this case, the original wayspot location was deliberately and thoughtfully slightly away from the POI in order to drop the wayspot into an otherwise empty cell. It has now been moved onto the POI, which is correct.

Asking for a correctly placed wayspot to be moved slightly, for gameplay purposes rather than to make the location more accurate, is not a reasonable request.

Everyone else has taken this into consideration, but I will give you my harsh opinion. I know this will offend you, but please forgive me.
Since the mechanics of PokéStop generation are almost an open secret, we can choose any location for a way spot if there is a range to choose from. However, if we choose a location that deviates from that range, it will be considered manipulation of the game board and you will be subject to punishment. In this case, the rectangle connecting the three pillars is the area that can be selected, but the position you initially specified is outside of it. Please be careful in the future to keep the game fun.
