Can I make an approved way spot show in Pokemon Go

Hello Everyone. First post here. Long time Pokemon Go player (and Ingress, back in the day) but just starting to get into wayfarer.

I’m trying to develop the Pokemon Go game board in my town. I have a level 14 S2 cell with 19 POI and I’m desperately looking for the 20th for that 3rd poke gym.

There is a POI that’s in the wayfarer network but doesn’t show in PoGo. There is nothing else in the level 17 cell. Is there a way I can get it to show in PoGo? If I put in a new nomination, will it just be flagged as a duplicate?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!

If the Wayspot was imported just to be a Power Spot, then you cannot make change into a Pokestop. I wrote about how to tell the difference in this topic. Will a Power Spot be considered a duplicate if nominated?

If you would like to leave the location, we can have a look on the Web Submit map. That map doesn’t display the imports.

Also, many of the imported locations would not meet Wayfarer criteria as a new submission anyway, as explained in the link in that topic. We could discuss whether it could if you would like to tell us what the point of interest is.

Imported powerspots won’t show up to reviewers and a waypoint submission won’t be marked as duplicate. However, imported powerspots are not necessarily eligible to be waypoints, as they didn’t follow the same rules. Since you are struggling to find a 20th pokestop, it is extremely likely that the imported powerspot is not something that could be a waypoint.

If you wanted, you could post the location and see if anyone can suggest anything by looking at maps

Wow. Really helpful reply’s. Thank you.

The what3words are ///drum.pines.parks

It’s the head offices for the National Association for teachers of dance. It’s a 120 year old organisation. There’s a lot of information on their website (not into dance but still found it interesting😀) about making dance accessible.

It looks like it was brought over as a power spot.

Hiya! I’m from Berkshire too :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

It does look like that’s a power spot as there’s nothing in Go there. That means you can submit it as a PoI and itll come up as a stop/gym - but the power spot will disappear.

Assuming I have the correct location from your what 3 words.

Is it just an office building, or is there a plaque or something, or do they hold dance there? Because I am not 100% sure that an office/HQ would be accepted if all they do there is admin

It’s going to be hard to make a case for the Dance place if it is more of an admin building rather than a place where dance lessons take place.

Has the Waitrose got a community notice board or the lime?
They are often near the entrance and although they often get rejected they can be approved.

Good idea on the community noticeboard inside a supermarket-those usually get accepted on Appeal

There is a building at the corner of ilkley and the moors - Neville House?
Not sure exactly what sort of accommodation it is but there looks like some communal social spaces around it. That may be worth having a look.

That building is a retirement home. They do have some water features on their grounds but I wasn’t sure about submitting it. I’ll go and have a look in Waitrose tomorrow. See what I can find.

Thanks everyone. Really appreciate all the help and positive feedback.

I got a couple of water features at 2 different care homes accepted. Make it clear in your supporting info that it is not a single family private residential property!

As someone who could sign up for a retirement place …….i’d welcome some stops😂
If it’s a nursing home then it becomes more of a sensitive location. So it’s about the exact situation.

I had never known about this way of expressing location until today! Glad others could help you =)

It’s advertised in the UK as a great method for hikers in case of an accident you use an app that gives the What3Words location similar to the S2 Cells so it can be used anywhere even without a postal address.

A: It’s easier to find you than stating “I’m opposite the 3rd cow on the left”.

B: If they state that they are to send a “Air Ambulance” ask them to make sure the helicopter does not land at the exact spot…

:helicopter:

coordinates

Mistakes are more likely stating co-ords to several decimal points.

Each language uses it own set of words that tries to avoid similar sounding.

Much easier to shout 3 words although you might confuse them shouting “leg.ouch.helicopter”

and these arent even all the variations of the same 3 words in the same order.

If you have called on a mobile they will already know the area due to which masts are being used.

Wasn’t saying it’s perfect but another way to get an accurate location.

Popular hiking areas will also recommend putting the local “mountain rescue” number in your phone.

ty for the explanation.
when i looked up

google suggested my local parks.

i won’t be able to help anyone based off of these kind of links (see Roli’s post) but my help was not needed.

I guess its popularity hasn’t made it over the pond yet. I work in the emergency services and we use it a lot. Lots of event planners will use it as well to communicate rendezvous points and evac points etc.

I use it if I park my car in a big car park

As another Brit I have the App on my phone in just in case.

Anyway I hope those ideas are of some help. I see the Waitrose has a cafe that might be possible too.
There are several good sized green spaces. Are they maintained as parks?
There is one from Fromont drive that links to the footpath. You don’t need a sign at the entrance ( although it’s a big help) we can give some advice about how to present a case.

I am moving this to nomination support as that seems more appropriate overall.

Good luck and do ask if you need anymore help.
